With seven needed off two deliveries, Ross Taylor swung the first over midwicket for six to drag St Lucia Zouks home off the last ball in a rain-affected game against Trinidad & Tobago Red Steel.
Opener Johnson Charles had led the chase of 91 in nine overs with 41 off 23, including three fours and three sixes, after the early exits of Andre Fletcher and captain Kevin Pietersen. However, with 24 required off 12, he was bowled by Jacques Kallis first ball of the penultimate over. Kallis sent back Kyle Mayers as well to finish with 3 for 15 in two overs, and Zouks were left to get 17 going into the last over.
Nathan McCullum managed to hit Dwayne Bravo for two fours and a couple before holing out off the fourth ball, but Taylor connected big off the fifth, which was only the second delivery he faced.
Red Steel had posted 90 for 4 after being asked to bat. Kallis led at the top with 38 off 19 and despite the rest of the top order not contributing, the Bravo brothers slammed a few late boundaries to help their side to a daunting total.
