Group C

Michael Vaughan returned to form with 82 as Yorkshire beat Sussex by 14 runs at Headingley. His innings helped Yorkshire to 227 for 5, and Sussex were always struggling after Tim Bresman took three quick wickets. Luke Wright (46) and Murray Goodwin (45) kept the match alive but Will Beer was run out in the penultimate over.
Gloucestershire also maintained their unbeaten start with a 128-run thrashing of Surrey at Bristol. William Porterfield, called out of the Ireland squad as injury cover, top scored with 74 as Gloucestershire romped to 268 for 9, and in reply Surrey's batting, which has been brittle so far this season, again caved in, and only a patient 36 from Usman Afzaal enabled them to crawl to 140.

Group A

Liam Dawson took 4 for 48 and then made 35 from 48 balls as Hampshire beat Leicestershire by four wickets at Grace Road. Leicestershire made 238 for 6, Matthew Boyce (80) and Boeta Dippenaar (65) leading the way, but Chris Benham's 79 helped Hampshire recover from 52 for 3 to ease home with 11 balls remaining.
Ireland were well beaten by Worcestershire in a rain-affected 33-over-a-side game in Belfast. In difficult conditions, Worcestershire made 180 for 8 and then restricted the home side to 128 for 9.

Group B

Somerset had no problems in beating Kent by 110 runs at Taunton as the home side's batsmen hit good form. Marcus Trescothick (70 off 41 balls Peter Trego (73*), Zander de Bruyn (71*) and James Hildreth (67) blasted Somerset to 291 for 3, and in reply Kent could only make 181.
Middlesex's batsmen enjoyed a romp in the sun, piling up 302 for 7 against Scotland at Lord's and then bowling the visitors out for 140 to win by 162 runs. Phillip Hughes continued his good form with 74, adding 147 for the first wicket with Billy Godleman (82) and the rest of Middlesex's runs, like their wickets, were shared around.

Group D

Lancashire emerged as the early-season leaders after a convincing six-wicket defeat of Northamptonshire at Wantage Road. Northants did well to make 240 after being out in, but Lancashire opener Paul Horton hit 100 off 108 balls to help them amble to victory with more than five overs in hand.
Derbyshire overcame a mini collapse to beat Glamorgan by four wickets at the County Ground. Set a target of 206, they slid from 85 for 0 to 108 for 4 before Gary Park's 81-ball 43 calmed their nerves and steered them home with four overs to spare. Earlier, Jamie Dalrymple followed his hundred yesterday with a top score of 75.
