8.4 to W Jaffer, finally a wicket. And it is Jaffer who has the fatal flirt. It landed on a length, outside off and held its line. An unsure Jaffer hung his bat out and feathered a edge behind. They have been bowling well but it appeared that the batsmen have seen off the worst times when VRV breaks through. Now, game on. Let's see how the new batsmen face up to the moving cherry.. 34/1
33.1 to PA Patel, Parthiv is gone. Huge wicket. He doesn't look too happy though. It kicked from a length, Parthiv stabbed at it and the ball went close to the outside edge. The bowler and the 'keeper were absolutely sure that it was out. They didn't even appeal too vociferously and up went the umpire's finger. Parthiv stalled a brief while before walking off. No replays yet to confirm Parthiv's doubts or the bowler's conviction. If there is, i will let you know.. 139/3
33.2 to CA Pujara, What a screaming yorker from VRV! A peach of a delivery to face up. Poor Cheteshwar Pujara. It was hurled in full, Pujara shaped to jab it away but it swung away late too - too good for the batsman on a duck and it took out the middle stump. North have roared back into the game. 139/4
61.1 to RK Solanki, done in by the sharp bouncer. VRV's golden day continues. It was banged in short, at the body and Solanki, who was troubled through the day by the extra bounce of VRV, fended at it in an ungainly manner and lobbed a easy catch to the man who ran in from covers.. 238/7
63.4 to SP Jobanputra, sharp catch by Chopra at third slip. Full and outside off, Jobanputra had a wild swing and it flew chest-high to Chopra. VRV gets a five-for in the Duleep Trophy final.. 247/8
1333212.46624004
45.1 to AM Rahane, Reverse swing does Rahane in! What a gem of a knock it has been, though. It was full and came in late in the air, Rahane pushed across and before the bat comes around the pad the ball struck him in front of middle and leg. It would have taken out leg stump, only doubt was it looked a touch high. We have no hawk eye here, may be ... just may be it would have gone over. Fab knock.. 170/5

30.6 to SO Kukreja, Gone! cleaned up! Flighted delivery, just outside off stump, hint of turn and Sahil jabs at it, the bat comes outside the line, gets an inside-edge and runs on to the off stump. 122/2
52.4 to YK Pathan, flighted outside leg, Pathan gives him the charge, goes for the loft over the on side but fails to get the desired elevation. He ends up hitting low to VRV Singh at mid-on who dives forward and claims the catch. 217/6
68.2 to SK Trivedi, That's it, West Zone have been bowled out for 274. Flighted delivery, on the middle stump, Trivedi has a wild slog across the line but can only edge it to covers.. 274/10

16.1 to A Chopra, What a start! Trivedi removes Chopra first ball! It landed on a length, just outside the off stump and shaped away a touch. Chopra, on the walk, pushes at it and the outside edge is snapped up in the third slip. He batted so well yesterday but gone first ball today.. 53/1
16.4 to K Goel, What did they have for breakfast? Trivedi strikes again and West have roared back into the game. This one again shapes away from the left-hander Goel who has a fatal poke at it.. 53/2
26.3 to S Dhawan, Trivedi is on a roll and North are tottering here. This one kicks up from just a length and it shapes in a touch. Dhawan shapes to cut but is cramped up as the ball comes in and also beaten by the extra bounce. He gets a inside edge that takes the ball on to the off stump. 88/3
28.1 to M Manhas, Trivedi on a demolition job here. What a morning he has had. Another key wicket. Manhas gone. teasing line outside off stump and Manhas lunges forward but the ball curves away, taking a bit of outside edge along with it. 97/4
80.5 to A Mishra, Trivedi gets a five-for. Mishra succumbs. Full and swinging away and Mishra chases it. North trail by 6 runs. 268/7
82.6 to R Bhatia, Bhatia finally falls after a gritty fighting knock. They still trail by three. Another wicket for Trivedi. It was banged in short and Bhatia top-edged his pull to fine leg. 271/8

69.6 to Yashpal Singh, And that outside-leg theory works! Yashpal comes out of the track and tries to drive inside-out but can only send it towards mid-off where Jobanputra jumps up to take the catch. They kept padding Dhruv away for two overs but suddenly this over, they started to play at those outside-leg deliveries and have lost a wicket. 225/5
75.5 to U Kaul, And one more down. Outside off stump and Kaul goes for a cut and feathers an edge to Parthiv. Kaul, though, doesn't look too happy. There was a noise though. North trail by 25 runs. 249/6
99.6 to VRV Singh, and he is stumped. He just didn't try to get back; he must have thought his back foot was in . He had lunged forward and dragged his back foot out and PAtel whipped the bails off . The last wicket partnership was 66 and that's North's lead too.. 340/10
2047313.659112020
83.6 to VS Malik, Jobanputra gets his first wicket and North lose their ninth. Full and outside off induces another loose drive and Patel snaps him up.. 274/9

2.3 to SO Kukreja, VRV makes a early breakthrough. After slipping in two deliveries on the legs, he got this one full and just outside off and Sahil nicked a loose drive behind. The quality of the batting in the game, barring Rahane and Chopra, to an extent, has been pretty ordinary. Yes. Rajat Bhatia and Yashpal did put up a gritty partnership but the batsmanship left lots to be desired. Bhatia was still ok but .. the rest were pretty average.. 7/1
27.3 to AM Rahane, Rahane has been given out lbw. Looked high. It cut in from just a length, beat the defensive poke and hit him high on the thigh pad. It was in front but would have gone over.. 108/5
57.5 to RK Solanki, caught at wide third man. Banged in short and outside off, he went for the slash cut but hit it straight to Dhawan. 222/7
57.6 to SP Jobanputra, two in two. He kicks it up from a length, outside off stump and Jolly has a poke at it. Fatal. Edged to slips.. 222/8
59.6 to RV Dhurv, And North need 166 to win. VRV takes a five-for. Again. Short of length and Dhurv top edged his swipe to mid-on. 5 for 91 in the first and 5 for 86 in the second for VRV.. 231/10
1436224.42609005
18.2 to PA Patel, and Patel is gone. Lovely delivery from Malik. It kicked up from a length and also, moved away sharply, taking the outside edge of the jab and straight to first slip. 66/3
20.5 to CA Pujara, cleaned up! Cracker of a inswinger, full and moving and Pujara plays an expansive off drive, the bat goes outside the line and the ball dips in to crash into the middle stump. The previous one didn't come in as much but to the horror of Pujara, this one curved in appreciably. The middle stump went on a walk.. 70/4
1132111.90562003
15.2 to W Jaffer, timber.... Thakur pitches it on a good length on off stump and gets it to straighten, Jaffer gets forward half heartedly and fails to cover the line as the ball creeps between bat and pad and clips the off stump, the bails go for a spin. 56/2
1524513.00645001
38.1 to YK Pathan, caught at short fine leg! Mishra flights it outside leg and Yusuf went for his fav sweep shot but gets a top edge. Yusuf falls after a brisk 61. This is a big wicket and North can now get into the tail. 167/6
20713.5081000
58.3 to AM Makda, North are rolling over West here. Full in length, outside off stump and he pushed hard at it and flew low to left of gully where Karan Goel takes a neat diving catch. 227/9

6.3 to A Chopra, gone lbw. Chopra is not happy and walks off shaking his head. It landed on a length, around off and came in, Chopra, is caught on the sideways shuffle, and is hit in front on the knee roll. Did he get an inside edge? Hmm... There was a noise.. 28/1
10.1 to M Manhas, third wicket goes down and West are in the game. It was a length delivery that held its line and had Manhas pushing hard at it and the resultant edge was snapped up low at second slip. 40/3

9.3 to K Goel, Makda strikes in his first over. Probing line outside off and the shuffling Goel flirts. Gone! Caught behind. He never looked 'in'.. 39/2
39.3 to Yashpal Singh, now that ends the long stay of Yashpal, as out of character he flays at a ball wide outside the off stump to point where Rahane takes the sitter. Solid blow this for North. My Co-scorer, Raymond jumped up with glee as he saw the catch being completed. 103/4
