India make it six in six

Another dominating all-round performance enabled India Under-19 to finish the league stage with an unbeaten record as they thrashed West Indies Under-19 by 81 runs for their sixth win in as many games in Visakhapatnam. Kumar Deobrat (75) led another solid batting show as India made 249 for 7 before their bowlers struck repeatedly to dismiss West Indies for 168.

Deobrat added 91 runs for the third wicket with Manan Vohra (44) and another 61 for the fourth with B Aparajith after Akhil Herwadkar and captain Unmukt Chand had provided the base with an opening partnership of 53.

The visitors lost their captain Kraigg Brathwaite off the third delivery of the chase to Sandeep Sharma. After Brathwaite's opening partner John Campbell fell for 27, Anthony Alleyne and Mayers got the innings back on track. Vikas Mishra struck to have Alleyne leg-before and West Indies could not put together any substantial partnerships. Aparajith struck thrice to finish with 21 wickets, easily the highest for the series. The next-best is Sandeep's haul of ten.

In a high-scoring game, Australia Under-19 managed to chase 297 against Sri Lanka Under-19 to win by two wickets with an over to spare. Opener Cameron Bancroft made a patient century and along with the more aggressive Kurtis Patterson (74), put on 152 for the second wicket to put Australia in control. Patterson fell in the 31st over but Bancroft carried on till his side reached 250 before he became the fifth wicket to fall. Australia required 47 off 34 deliveries at that stage but the lower order led by captain Ashton Turner found the boundaries at the right time to bring victory in the 49th over. Turner hit six boundaries in his 36 off 21 deliveries and Shane Cassell finished the job with two sixes off four deliveries.

Australia's efforts meant a fine recovery by Sri Lanka went in vain. Their captain Angelo Jayasinghe had lifted them from 11 for 3 to 296 for 8 with an unbeaten century. A 140-run partnership with Sandun Weerakkody (78) formed the foundation for the fightback and Jayasinghe later had useful stands with the lower order. The loss was Sri Lanka's third in the tournament to go with three wins.

They will take on India in the final on October 9 while Australia and West Indies will clash in the third-place playoff.
