Tanbir Hayder steered Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club to a hard-fought three-wicket win over Partex Sporting Club at the Fatullah Cricket Stadium, helping them chase down 202 from a position of 153 for 6 in the 34th over.
Tanbir just struck one boundary in his 61-ball stay, and added a crucial 43 runs for the seventh wicket with Elias Sunny who chipped in with 23. Earlier Mahbubul Karim had blasted three sixes and four boundaries in his 27-ball 42 as Dhanmondi openers gave their side a rollicking start in the chase, adding 63 in under eight overs. However, Mamun Hossain rocked the middle order with three wickets, while Nuruzzaman Masum took two wickets, too.
Partex had been bowled out for 201 in 46.3 overs. Jony Talukdar, younger brother of Rony Talukdar, made 65 off 84 balls with four boundaries and two sixes. But the star bowler for Dhanmondi was their captain Abdur Razzak, who took 5 for 22, his seventh five-for in List-A cricket.
A four-wicket haul from Taijul Islam and Shamsur Rahman's unbeaten 74 gave Mohammedan Sporting Club an easy seven-wicket win over Victoria Sporting Club at the BKSP-4 in Savar. This was Victoria's fifth successive loss, in stark contrast to their impressive 2016 season.
Mohammedan completed their chase of 155 in 30 overs. Shamsur anchored the innings, drafting strong partnerships with Rony Talukdar (48 for the second wicket), Raqobul Hasan (38 for the third wicket) and an unbeaten 72 for the fourth wicket with Avishek Mitra. He struck seven fours and two sixes off the 77 deliveries he faced.
Victoria were bowled out for 154 in 40 overs, with Rubel Mia's 42 being the highest score. Apart from Taijul's four wickets, Enamul Haque jnr took three wickets while Shamsur picked two scalps.
Brothers Union beat Khelaghar Samaj Kallyan Samity by 71 runs at the BKSP-3 ground in an important mid-table clash.
Batting first, Brothers Union posted 267 for 6 in 50 overs with Myshukur Rahaman (84*) and Farhad Hossain (67) hitting fifties. Farhad was the common factor in two of the innings' biggest partnerships: he added 57 for the second wicket with Mizanur Rahman and 62 for the third wicket with Myshukur.
Dhiman Ghosh lifted the side in the slog overs, ending unbeaten on 42 off just 21 balls with a six and four boundaries.
Khelaghar then slipped to 105 for 8 in the 33rd over with Nazimuddin anchoring one end. Nazimuddin added 77 for the ninth wicket with Dolar Mahmud to whittle the margin of defeat. Nazimuddin ended with 68 off 100 balls with two fours and as many sixes, while Dolar made an unbeaten 53 off 59 balls with three fours and two sixes.
Left-arm spinner Nihaduzzaman took three wickets while Alok Kapali and Manvinder Bisla took two wickets each.
