Mark: "Maybe the Phantom will have to come out and save the day" That would have been a thrilling finish...

Despite the late jitters, it is Auckland who have deservedly claimed the New Zealand domestic one-day title in front of their home crowd. They dominated this game from the 10-over mark of Canterbury's innings onward, skittling an experienced line-up for 139 before their top-order set up what should have been a comfortable win. Some unnecessary dismissals meant it didn't quite happen that way, but in the end the title is deserved. With two one-day titles, two Twenty20 titles and a one-day final appearance in the last 3 seasons, it is safe to say that Auckland are the best limited-overs side in New Zealand, and showed that again today.

It's post-match presentation time. New Zealand Cricket (NZC) board member Bill Francis gives an update on Jesse Ryder's improved condition, which pleases the crowd. After the sponsor's platitudes, the captains are called up.

Here's Andrew Ellis, who is very disappointed but pleased with his side's fight in defence of their total. He is confident his side have the right blend of youth and experience for future seasons.

Gareth Hopkins is delighted with trophy success after their failure to defend their HRV Cup title, and in particular happy with Chris Martin and Kyle Mills setting the tone throughout the campaign with the ball. He also congratulates the batsmen for their hundreds during the season. Hopkins is presented the trophy and the Auckland squad pose for photographs.

That is the final domestic match of the New Zealand season. There are however the New Zealand Under 19 fixtures and the National Club Championships at Auckland's Cornwall Park still to run before the cricket season has run its course. It is on that note that I, Avi Singh, will sign off from scoring and commentary duties for today's game and leave you all to enjoy the rest of your Sunday, hoping you enjoyed the live coverage on ESPNcricinfo of today's Final. Wishing Jesse Ryder the best recovery possible, it's goodbye from us. Ta!

Ellis to Hopkins, FOUR runs, fittingly it's the Auckland skipper Gareth Hopkins who hits the winning runs against one of his former provincial sides, Ellis rolled the fingers on it and Hopkins punched aerially, but through the gap in the ring and out to the cover boundary

McCone to BP Martin, no run, fiery bouncer which tails back in at Martin and skims the peak of the helmet as he tries to sway out of the way, but too little too late
McCone to BP Martin, FOUR runs, Bruce Martin has certainly played a key part in this game even if not in the way he expected, shortish outside off and he thumps it through the covers out to the boundary
McCone to BP Martin, FOUR runs, what a stroke to play, the tension was building and Bruce Martin has burst the bubble with a glorious drive straight down the ground to an overpitched ball on off
McCone to BP Martin, no run, lovely ball first up, Bruce Martin hops around before squeezing it out off leg stump as it tails back in

Bruce Martin to have his first notable involvement in this final after not being required at the bowling crease during Canterbury's innings

McCone to Mills, OUT, well well, another wicket and can Canterbury conjure something out of nothing here? It was good length around off, Mills went for a big heave and dragged it onto the base of middle stump
