Scorecard

Marcus North made his 37th first-class hundred to lead a strong Western Australia batting performance against Victoria in Perth. North struck 145 and put on 208 for the opening wicket with Cameron Bancroft , who made 86. Adam Voges compiled another half-century and was unbeaten on 62 as Western Australia ended on 3 for 315.

Victoria, who chose to field, were made to toil for more than 60 overs by North and Bancroft before they could separate the pair. It was Jake Haberfield who ended the partnership when he had Bancroft caught behind. John Rogers missed out on a productive day for batsmen when he was caught-and-bowled by Haberfield for 1.

North and Voges then added 92 for the third wicket and it was only very late in the day that Victoria were able to see the back of the former. It was Haberfield again, having North caught behind for his third wicket. After North's departure, Voges and Shaun Marsh ensured there weren't any more late alarms for Western Australia.

North took 269 balls for his 145 and hit 20 fours and a six. It was his third hundred in four Shield games along with two half-centuries. He is the leading run-getter this season with 589 runs in seven innings at an average of 117.80.
