Hogan stars in his farewell match for WA

Queensland made an ordinary start to their bid for a Sheffield Shield final place by being bowled out for 147 by Western Australia on day one at the Gabba

Western Australia 2 for 66 (Marsh 16*, Voges 16*) trail Queensland 147 (Steketee 32, Hogan 4-29, Richardson 3-25) by 81 runs
Scorecard
Queensland made an ordinary start to their bid for a Sheffield Shield final place by being bowled out cheaply by Western Australia on day one at the Gabba.
The Bulls are currently second behind Victoria on a tightly packed competition table, and may have allowed their destiny to slip out of their hands in being dismissed for 147 after being sent in by the Warriors.
Michael Hogan claimed four wickets for WA in his final match for the state, and was well supported by the teenager Jhye Richardson, who picked up three of his own. Hogan's return was typical of his career, probing around off stump and finding the outside edge of the bat with subtle movement.
Having placed themselves under pressure through an indifferent batting display, the Bulls were given early hope with the ball when Cameron Bancroft and Marcus Harris fell to Jack Wildermuth.
However, the international pair of Shaun Marsh and Adam Voges steadied the Warriors, and will hope for more runs on the second morning.
