Lionel wells, a brother of CM Wells, was born on February 3, 1870, and, after practicing at The Oval, died in the pavilion on April 26, aged 58. A useful forcing batsman and slow bowler, he played occasionally for Middlesex between 1898 and 1905 as well as for the now defunct London County C.C. In London club cricket he was associated chiefly with the Wanderers and the Crystal Palace C.C.
