Profile

He should be nicknamed the star of Bethlehem, being born in that sleepy town in the North West province of South Africa. Best known for his off-spinning abilities, Werner Coetsee is a capable batsman who averages over 30 in first-class cricket and has often rescued the Lions from tricky situations. He has been used extensively in the three-day and one-day competitions but lost his place to Aaron Phangiso for most of the 2009-10 Standard Bank pro20 competition. He is the go-to man in situations that require containing and has good economy rates in all formats.
