Not a big call at all really. Siddle just doesn't do enough with the ball at his gentle medium pace speed. If Mitch isn't tearing through them at the other end, Siddle doesn't have any coat-tails to ride on. His one endearing quality is he plays opposition batsmen into form.

Wow, that's some call on the basis of one innings. Harris has been superb for the last 11 tests, and Siddle has been very good. You can't pass judgment on the basis of one wicket specifically doctored to neutralise them. Make no mistake. If some of those numerous early snicks had gone to hand (not one made a fielder) SA would have struggled to make 200. That's been the prime difference between the bowling lineups - edges carrying. Australia were dominating in the fist two hours of the game, but everyone forgets how close they came to running through the SA attack.

Cullinan is right, Siddle is a second rate hack. He will soon be replaced by Pattinson though.
