New Zealand in South Africa T20I Series - 3rd T20I

South Africa v New Zealand

South Africa won by 33 runs

So Faf du Plessis has taken upon himself to do the opening job. He is in the middle along with Henry Davids. Mitchell M is bowling over the wicket with a slip in place.

Meanwhile, Firdose - our tireless South Africa correspondent - has published her toss report here.

Sundar: "Can someone explain to me what is a T20 game doing on boxing day? And we accuse BCCI of not caring for Test cricket.. I suppose this must also be some kind of BCCI conspiracy, is it?" My take-away food arrived an hour late a few days back. I blame that on the BCCI too.

2.20 pm: The temperature in Port Elizabeth is a pleasant 25 degrees with a slight breeze coming in. Ideal conditions for a heated battle.

2.15 pm: So Richard Levi has finally run out of the long rope. After his blistering hundred in New Zealand earlier this year, the opening batsmen managed only 106 runs in his next 11 innings. That is some fall for someone who announced himself with a bang in international cricket. Justing Ontong hasn't had a great run in the T20 international either - he has 91 runs from 10 matches. The only standout feature for him probably is that he has hit more sixes than fours - 7 and 3. Wonder if New Zealand prefer Ontong or Levi in the South African team?

South Africa have won the toss and have decided to bat first. As expected, Justin Ontong has come in to replace the out-of-form Richard Levi, and will play in the middle order. New Zealand are going unchanged into the match.

2.00 pm: Good Afternoon and welcome to ESPNcricinfo's coverage of the third and the final Twenty20 match between South Africa and New Zealand. We are half an hour away from the start of the match and will get you the toss update soon. Till then, here is the preview.

0.1

0.3

McClenaghan to du Plessis, no run, pulls the length back now, this one is on the off stump line and Faf comes forward and defends it towards cover

0.4

McClenaghan to du Plessis, no run, big shout for lbw! Faf survives. It was the classical left-armer's delivery. Fuller length, comes in with the angle and hits the pads as Faf looks for a flick. Hitting the leg stump. Faf very lucky there.

0.5

McClenaghan to du Plessis, 1 run, length ball on the middle, driven towards wide mid-on for a single

It hits the pads and then disturbs the stumps.

4.1

McClenaghan to de Kock, 1 run, back of length on off stump line, the batsman stays on the crease and pushes it towards midwicket

4.3

McClenaghan to Davids, 1 run, fuller length outside off, driven to cover point where Hira's fumble allows a single

4.4

McClenaghan to de Kock, OUT, caught by mid off fielder at long on! Wow. de Kock went for the big shot down the ground to this fuller delivery on the off stump line, but got under it too much. That went miles in the air and Corey Anderson runs in from mid-off to slide in take that comfortably around the long-on area. Zooper catch!

Bracewell to Behardien, OUT, caught at fine leg! short ball on the body, the batsman swivels to play a hook shot that goes straight to the fielder at fine leg, it's not Anderson, it's Mitchell M. Bracewell will be on a hat-trick next time (next year)

F Behardien c McClenaghan b Bracewell 22 (19m 11b 2x4 1x6) SR: 200.00

South Africa appeared to be struggling to force the pace at one stage, but the second half saw Davids, Ontong, Miller .. basically everyone.. get the skating shoes on. 63 were scored off the last five and it has given a very strong total to South Africa on what is a slow surface and spinners Phangiso and Peterson will find to their taste. Will it be Guptill again? We will find out soon.

William: "Nothing like a nine-ball over to keep the pressure on the Proteas. Great going NZ, solidly unsolid, as per usual."

Rediah: "Will vote for Mike's DOG"

Matt: "excuse me that last catch was taken by anderson as well".. I am sure if there was no one at fine leg, Anderson would have run all the way from deep cover to take that catch.

Abdullah: "Mike please dont take your dog for a walk when NZ are playing a match, it always goes against them." Not always Abdullah, the dog-walker got NZ a bunch of wickets during the Colombo Test between SL and NZ.

End of over 20 (14 runs) South Africa 179/6
