The teams' national anthems are being sung. I've just spotted a large Winnie the Pooh rug on the hill at Senwes Park. Not too long until the start now.
Martin Guptill, who's had a poor, poor tour after that century in the T20s, is opening with BJ Watling. Dale Steyn with the first new ball, bowling over the wicket.
2.10 pm Sean Vucich: "R.Taylor only managed a 4 in his first class return. Ryder managed the same during the same round of the Plunket Shield as well. Would still be great to see them there though"
James: "Top sports scheduling. Murray to beat Federer just before the cricket starts. We hope."
Niranjan: "As a Mumbai Indians fan, it was devastating watching Aaron Phangiso dominate MI batsmen in the champions league. SA desperately need a good spinner for a balanced attack, I hope Aaron makes good use of this opportunity."
Matt: "Did anyone else see Shane Warne catch Federer's mis-hit at the tennis?"
Alastair Houldsworth: "Would be grateful if you could avoid publishing anything about the tennis... have recorded the match to watch after work and don't want to know the result. Thanks :)" Done, not another word.
2.00 pm New Zealand have named an unchanged XI. South Africa have made two changes. Aaron Phangiso comes in for Robin Peterson to make his ODI debut, and Dale Steyn replaces Morne Morkel.
Brendon McCullum has won the toss and New Zealand will bat.
Zaakir: "It's not just hot, it's "blazing"....the team that fields first will find it tough...."
Sean: "Im sure NZ will have a hard time beating SA for a 3rd ODI. It would make my month if they manage a turn around in the form of a whitewash. Although I am happy with the result so far."
Elky Le Roux: "Come on BCs! Clean sweep! You've got loads of loyal loyal supports that support you through thick, thin and strangely brown. Do it for us - we bloody need it!"
Niranjan: "It has been a tremendous turn-around..Finally New Zealand team doing something to do justice to their potential. Just hoping that they take confidence from this performance and do well in tests too."
1.45 pm Good afternoon and welcome to our ball-by-ball commentary of the third ODI between South Africa and New Zealand in Potchefstroom, where it's a hot day. New Zealand have already won the series of course, 2-0, so they're gunning for a cleansweep, while South Africa will be desperate to avoid that result. Or so we hope.

Steyn himself seems to relish Test Cricket anyway. ODIs anyway aren't what they used to be. The best period for ODIs were from 1996 to 2003 where the bat-ball contest would be even and a 250 score would've been a tough one to chase. I miss those days."

there's an appeal for a stumping after Elliott was drawn forward by Phangiso's length and beaten on the drive by the flighted ball that turned away from the right-hander. His foot was on the line but he seemed to slide it back, or was it on the line when de Kock broke the stumps? It's a very close call. Extremely close, and the third umpire gives Elliott the benefit of the doubt. Could have gone either way, I think.

McLaren to NL McCullum,
OUT,
there's a huge appeal for caught behind but the umpire says not out. De Kock was adamant and South Africa have reviewed this. The ball was short of a length and it rose into McCullum's ribs. McCullum moved across his stumps and tried to glance towards fine leg. He ended up stopping his shot in the end but did he stop his shot in time? Hot Spot doesn't really show a clear mark on the glove but the third umpire has spoken with the on-field umpire, who has changed his decision. McCullum has to go. It did look like it brushed the glove but I can't say there was hard evidence of it. There was a smudge on the glove but nothing very clear

that looks plumb lbw and the umpire agrees! Neesham isn't convinced though and he's asked for a review. McLaren bowled the ball in the blockhole from round the wicket and hit Neesham on the boot as he played across the line. That looks pretty adjacent, the ball would have gone on to clip leg stump. But the predictive replays show it would have gone on to hit middle! That is bizarre. Definitely not hitting middle. Leg stump, yes.

6.25 pm South Africa's bowlers really lost the plot. In their hurry to keep up with the over-rate - they were behind because of all the wides - they bowled poorly at the death and New Zealand took advantage of the wayward lines and lengths. They now need 261 to avoid a whitewash. I'll be back in 20 minutes for the chase. The break between innings won't be long. South Africa were well behind the over-rate.
