Pakistan tour of South Africa, 2nd ODI: South Africa v Pakistan at Port Elizabeth, Nov 27, 2013
Pakistan won by 1 run
27 November 2013 (50-over match)

Steyn to Nasir Jamshed, OUT, Steyn strikes in the first over as Nasir plays all around this fuller length ball which comes in. Finds his off stump peg knocked back as Steyn roars with approval. Didn't take long did that?

Nasir Jamshed b Steyn 2 (2m 5b 0x4 0x6) SR: 40.00

Pakistan 2/1   Ahmed Shehzad 0* (0b)   DW Steyn 0.5-0-2-1

Steyn to Mohammad Hafeez, OUT, Hafeez is in two minds as he looks to play this short ball which is banged in, but instead gets the outside edge on the way to the keeper. That is his 15th dismissal to Steyn in 20 matches.

Mohammad Hafeez c †de Kock b Steyn 8 (28m 16b 0x4 0x6) SR: 50.00

Pakistan 22/2   Ahmed Shehzad 10* (20b 1x4)   DW Steyn 3.5-0-10-2

McLaren to Sohaib Maqsood, OUT, and the bowling change proves inspired as Maqsood looks to stand and deliver with a tonk down the ground to this full delivery, but instead spoons it over extra-cover, with Hashim Amla taking a safe catch. Silly shot when you consider both these batsmen had put on 124, and were looking good for many more

Sohaib Maqsood c Amla b McLaren 42 (86m 59b 3x4 0x6) SR: 71.18

Pakistan 146/3   Ahmed Shehzad 82* (89b 8x4 1x6)   R McLaren 4.1-0-26-1

Imran Tahir to Misbah-ul-Haq, OUT, Tahir strikes as Misbah, looking to glance a length delivery going down the leg side, ends up getting a soft edge on it, with de Kock doing well to move and get into position just behind to capture the rebound off the bat. Keeper and bowler are convinced they have got their man, and the umpire confirms it soon after. Scenes of joy and jubilation from the South Africans. This is a massive wicket as Misbah has been remarkably consistent this year.

Misbah-ul-Haq c †de Kock b Imran Tahir 12 (22m 15b 1x4 0x6) SR: 80.00

Pakistan 176/4   Ahmed Shehzad 100* (108b 8x4 2x6)   Imran Tahir 7.5-0-33-1

Tsotsobe to Ahmed Shehzad, OUT, what is happening out there? Shehzad looks to ease this back of a length ball down to mid-on, but Akmal is rooted at the non-strikers, guilty of ball-watching. Shehzad is almost at the other end when he sees Tahir swoop on the ball, and is unable to make it back in time for the throw as de Kock collects it and then whips off the the bails, with Shehzad well short. What a way to shoot yourself in the foot, and Umar Akmal will be feeling guilty as the run was on, despite the risk

Ahmed Shehzad run out 102 (148m 112b 8x4 2x6) SR: 91.07

Pakistan 180/5   Umar Akmal 2* (3b)   LL Tsotsobe 9-0-47-0

Steyn to Shahid Afridi, OUT, wide outside off and Afridi, looking to guide this past the slips, instead guides it to the slip, with Steyn over the moon. Only reason this could be construed a big wicket is if he let loose in the end overs, which he is capable off. But South Africa have remedied that prospect quite well

Shahid Afridi c de Villiers b Steyn 11 (23m 13b 1x4 0x6) SR: 84.61

Pakistan 214/6   Umar Akmal 23* (19b 2x4 1x6)   DW Steyn 6.5-0-21-3

Steyn to Bilawal Bhatti, OUT, but it is Steyn who has the last laugh as Bhatti, looking to mow one down the ground, instead gets a thick outside edge which carries behind to the keeper. Muted celebrations from South Africa though as they need to keep a check on the scoring, which has gotten out of their hands in the recent overs

Bilawal Bhatti c †de Kock b Steyn 21 (15m 14b 4x4 0x6) SR: 150.00

Pakistan 241/7   Umar Akmal 29* (24b 3x4 1x6)   DW Steyn 8-0-33-4

Steyn to Anwar Ali, OUT, another huge play and miss by Anwar, but they are able to run the bye. Steyn complains about Anwar running on the pitch, but on second glance it may just be that he was appealing for obstruction of the field, as de Kock's throw was blocked when Anwar had changed direction, with the ball hitting his left shoulder. Anwar must have seen it out of his peripheral vision as he changes direction slightly to get in the way. The umpire has deemed it to be out. Been a while since I saw a dismissal in this manner

Anwar Ali obstructing the field 7 (9m 4b 1x4 0x6) SR: 175.00

Pakistan 261/8   Umar Akmal 42* (29b 4x4 2x6)   DW Steyn 8.3-0-38-4

Steyn to Umar Akmal, OUT, and just as I finish typing that last explanation, Steyn has got Umar Akmal to edge a full delivery outside off to the keeper. Third umpire has been called on to deliberate, and the final decision is that it is out. There was definitely a sound as it hit the face of the bat. That is five wickets for Steyn as well, but as usual, he has got a grumpy look on his face.

Umar Akmal c †de Kock b Steyn 42 (57m 30b 4x4 2x6) SR: 140.00

Pakistan 261/9   Saeed Ajmal 0* (0b)   DW Steyn 8.4-0-38-5

Steyn to Saeed Ajmal, OUT, and Steyn finishes the innings with six wickets as Ajmal, looking to hit this to the leg side, instead gets a top-edge which flies directly behind to third man, who completes the take

Saeed Ajmal c Kallis b Steyn 0 (5m 1b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0.00

Pakistan 262/10   Junaid Khan 1* (1b)   DW Steyn 9-0-39-6
