10.30: Mohammad Hafeez and Nasir Jamshed walk out. Three slips in place
10.15am: So you got the main news below. Two changes for Pakistan. Teams updated above.
Firdose has this weather update: "We had a fair amount of overnight rain and it was quite cloudy early in but has cleared nicely. It's still quite cool especially the breeze, compared to the last few days which were scorching."
More debate on Rehman...
Vikram: "@Gareth: You are right, Rehman is really unlucky.Somewhere subcontinent teams are not willing to experiment when they tour abroad. England experimented when they toured india this time by playing Monty & Swanny together which payed huge dividends for them. I don't think Pakistan will have an issue in their bowling department if their batsmen provide a decent first innings score. Hafeez can play the role of second spinner & he can trouble batsmen."
James: "As a South African supporter, I'm really relieved to see that Rehman is not playing, once considered as second best spinner in the world behind Ajmal. I think Pak missed a trick here big time. No complaints though!"
Asad: "Why not Rehman?? Two offies on a dry pitch is not the most sensible decision for Pakistan. Rehman has troubled SA before. He can bat a bit as well. Very defensive approach by Misbah."
Salman is happier with the line-up: "Azhar Ali has an inning due, he isn't played from a long time. Younis also should show his class. Good decision to put Tanvir Ahmed in final XI, he can bat too. We are waiting to see the World's tallest cricketer Irfan."
Toss, 10am: Graeme Smith has won the toss and South Africa will bowl first. "I've played with many fantastic people who have helped me along the way, " says Smith, who's captaining South Africa in his 100th Test. South Africa are unchanged.
Misbah: "We would have batted first anyway. Junaid Khan and Rahat are injured. Tanvir Ahmed and Mohammad Irfan are playing. Our target is to lose less wickets in the first few hours."
How about not losing wickets at all? That should be the mindset.
Wayne: "Ok - I won't comment again! Smith obviously looking to inflict more pain on the fragile Pakistan psyche... Conditions tailor made for Vern.."
Gareth: "I'm surprised that Rehman isn't getting a go. He has been just as effective as Ajmal over the last 18 months, and those two together in the 4th Innings would be a handful!"
9.40am: Welcome everyone to the coverage of the second Test between South Africa and Pakistan at Newlands. Pakistan lost heavily at the Wanderers after an extraordinary collapse. We know they are a far better team than that. They would have learnt a lot from that defeat. The toss is on at 10.
Pitch: An even covering of grass, may not be as potent as the one at Wanderers. However the seamers will have some assistance early on. The captain winning the toss might want to bat first, provided his batsmen can see off the first hour.

12.30pm: A fine session for South Africa's opening bowlers. Smith wanted to give his seamers best use of the conditions on the first morning and they delivered. Three of the four wickets were caught behind. Younis and Shafiq are virtually opening the innings. Batting has looked a bit easier in the last half hour at least, with the swing not as prodigious. It's important Younis and Shafiq set shorter targets. Join us at 1.10.
