Educated at Millfield and Cambridge like his older brother Peter, Paul Roebuck was a left-hand opening batsmanwho played on and off for the university between 1983 and 1985, winning his Blue in his final year. Throughout that period he was on the books at Gloucestershire but was limited to one Championship appearance. In 1987 he moved to Glamorgan but opportunities there were equally limited and he made only two more first-class appearances at the very end of the 1988 season.
