Full name Edward Hale
Born September 1, 1764, Hambledon, Hampshire
Died November 16, 1823, Hambledon, Hampshire (aged 59 years 76 days)
Edward Hale was a rarity in that he was a Hambledon player born and raised in the village. His father, a local surgeon and farmer, built a house behind the George Inn, and Edward played for the club from 1784 but did not become a member until 1789. A keen sportsman, he kept a pack of harriers.
