Starting off the season down in Cape Town against reigning champions is no easy task for any team, but it was "JICM EASTERNS" who had to do it!
After some shocking performances by the entire team and some great cricket from the home team Western Province, we were defeated and sent home with a lot of work to do. Arriving home from Cape Town on the Tuesday morning, the team was at the nets on Wednesday morning concentrating on all the mistakes they made against Western Province and knowing that with only 3 days to prepare for the game against North West, lots of work needed to be done.
All this practice paid off with "JICM EASTERNS" ending victorious in just 3 days! Andrew Hall receiving cavalier of the match.
19-22 October, another win for our boys in blue at home against Griquas has boosted the team for the final home game next weekend - 25-28 October 2001 where we face Boland.
"JICM EASTERNS" ended the game just after lunch with some superb bowling by Bryson and Morkel. Great batting (106*) from Brendan Reddy earned him a well-deserved cavalier of the match.
It is no easy task playing back-to-back matches and is very tiring and stressful on the team, but with such dedication and determination an positive thinking from the coach, the team will be ok and are never scared of new challenges.
