Guilty of late night during the Cape Town Test

Gibbs fined entire match fee

It has been revealed that Herschelle Gibbs was fined his entire match fee for staying out late during the third Test at Cape Town. Gibbs, who scored 4 and 24 in the match which South Africa won, was fined 25,000 rand ($5,500) by an internal disciplinary hearing.

"The chief executive of the South African board was informed of the matter immediately and has sanctioned the imposition of a one-match fee penalty," a spokesman told reporters. "He complimented team management on the manner in which they dealt with the matter."

Gibbs is no stranger to brushes with authority and his action during the Newlands Test in all the more surprising given that it was on his recall to the national side after a period on the sidelines.
