Steyn and Harris skittle Lions

The Titans completed an emphatic 110-run victory over the Lions in a low scoring match at Benoni. The Titans could only add a further 28 runs to their second innings, but a target of 247 proved well beyond the capabilities of a fragile Lions batting line-up. Dale Steyn, currently not in favour with the South African selectors, grabbed three important wickets including the Lions skipper, Neil McKenzie, who top-scored with 38. Five of the middle order fell lbw before Paul Harris wrapped up the tail with his left-arm spin.

Lance Klusener continued to spearhead the Dolphins dominant performance against the Warriors. He followed yesterday's century with three wickets to leave the Warriors facing defeat: they lead by just 53 runs with two wickets remaining. Burton de Wett and Steven Pope threatened a fightback for the Warriors following an early slump to 99 for 4. However, their stand of 65 was ended when Klusener had de Wett caught by Imraan Khan for a battling 69 from 200 balls. Ugasen Govender provided excellent support for Klusener, continuing his promising start to the season with 3 for 40.

The Eagles continued to hold all the aces against the Cape Cobras at Bloemfontein as their batsmen piled on the runs, leaving the Cobras with a final day battle for a draw. Jacques Rudolph and Benjamin Hector carried their second-wicket stand to 151, both reaching their centuries. With such a solid platform the middle order was determined not to waste the opportunity to build a huge lead and Morne van Wyk took over. He added 96 with Nicky Boje, who struck a fluent 62 off 75 balls, then Roger Telemachus provided further support as the lead grew beyond 200. van Wyk's ton came from 195 balls and although the Cobras' openers negotiated ten overs before the close a tough final day is in prospect.
