Cricket South Africa (CSA) has postponed a decision on whether it will expand its domestic competitions from six to eight franchises until next January. The Franchise Review Committee is considering introducing new franchises for Border and Griqualand West for the 2009-10 season and beyond.
CSA decided it needed more time to discuss all the implications of the committee's recommendations, and a full day has been set aside for this at its next meeting in January.
Much of Wednesday's meeting was devoted to the finalisation of the CSA's Section 21 company which has been formed to enable it to benefit from new tax rebates for sports bodies with credible development programmes.
The meeting confirmed the appointment of Dr Mtutuzeli Nyoka as president of CSA and chairman of the Section 21 company.
