Bresnan suffers damp comeback

Tim Bresnan's return to England colours was limited to two deliveries as rained forced the abandonment of the third one-day match between England Lions and South Africa A

South Africa A 1 for 0 v England Lions - Match abandoned
Scorecard
Tim Bresnan's return to England colours was limited to two deliveries as rained forced the abandonment of the third one-day match between England Lions and South Africa A while the weather also hindered the three World Cup-bound players in the home side.
Bresnan, whose last international appearance as the defeat against Netherlands in the World T20, was drafted into the Lions squad following his spell in the Big Bash so that he could get some further competitive cricket in case reinforcements are needed for England's World Cup squad.
He was handed the new ball alongside Durham's Mark Wood but moments after he began his first over the weather closed in again and did not relent.
There was probably greater frustration in the home camp, and not only because it means they remain 2-0 down with two matches remaining. Quinton de Kock, Wayne Parnell and Aaron Phangiso had been brought into the squad following the conclusion of the one-day series against West Indies to given them another outing before leaving for the World Cup.
De Kock returned from his ankle injury in the final ODI in Centurion but fell cheaply and the weather meant he did not have the chance to try and spend time in the middle against a strong Lions attack. Alongside Bresnan, Liam Plunkett, Boyd Rankin, Ben Stokes and Stephen Parry have all played ODIs.
Parnell and Phangiso, who are likely to start the World Cup as reserves, played two matches apiece against West Indies.
