The Report by Andrew Fernando
August 29, 2012
The Nagenahira Nagas advance to the SLPL final on round-robin results, after intermittent heavy rain forced abandonment of the second semi-final without a ball being bowled. The Kandurata Warriors, who sit one point behind the Nagas, will bemoan their luck, as the only other washout was their clash with Uva Next on Saturday, which if they had won, would have seen them through to the final on net run-rate.
The pitch was being made ready for play after showers earlier in the day, but the covers were forced back on by a heavy downpour, and regular showers after that ensured they stayed on for the duration of the evening.
The Nagas will play Uva Next in the final at the R Premadasa Stadium on Friday. Scattered thunderstorms are forecast for Colombo that evening.

This is very poor organizing !!! how come a result of a semi final decided without a ball being balled!! what if same thing happens in the final.. then Nagas would be the winners ??? Kandurata is such a exciting team.. sad to see this thing.. the rules should be changed.. otherwise SLPL will be a failure :((
Posted by@Prázäd Krîs : Good teams like Australia and India.. Im pretty sure that none of those teams will win the T20, Neither of those teams performs well recently,, India might have a chance but for Australia, the door is already closed..
Posted by cric_fan_ on (August 30, 2012, 15:38 GMT)very unfortunate, the organizers must have had one reserved day for semi finals and finals considering the season they're playing in.
Posted byMy favorite is Nagas but a semifinal shouldnt be decided on a washout...there should be a rematch...I
Posted by Bimalkill2u on (August 30, 2012, 13:19 GMT)This is not at all accepted. From bottom of the table they came to play semifinal. This is a very bad show by the SL Organizer. Every one should boy cut SLPL.
This is the END of SLPL.
Posted byAnd this will surely carried upon to World cup, will a good team like Australia or India loses finals spot with these stupid calculations? Can ICC remains idle with these results? Now i guess there can be more washouts in Ceylon for the upcoming World cup.
Posted bythis is not jutice, poor KW!!
Posted by vivek_khyati on (August 30, 2012, 12:16 GMT)this is really absurd.. a serious thought for such rules is necessary.. how unfair is it on the part of kandurata warriors to lose a berth in final!! had the earlier game washed out, even wayamba could have been in the final.. but, uva next defeated the best team in tournament to reach in final.. at least to avoid such scenario in final, why cant they prepone the match at day time somewhere around 3 pm.. all the 4pm matches were completed successfully.. even they could have conducted this semifinal today at around 1 or 2 pm, so that the winning could have had some rest too before the start of final..
Posted byIf the final is also washed out, then will UVA take the trophy? This is all sheer nonsense. I hope SLPL rectify this mistake atleast next season
Posted by NaveTheorem on (August 30, 2012, 9:56 GMT)Both the teams are desevered to be in final but bad luck for KW
