Bollinger to Jayawardene, 1 run, Silva would have slashed it, but Mahela steers it. Width outside off, guided to third man. Bollinger's stunning spell comes to an end. He has 4 wickets, could have easily had Tharanga out on at least 5 more occasions in his first spell.

Watson to Jayawardene, no run, Watson escapes another near wide. This was on the tram line outside off stump. Very lucky to get away with that.

Watson to Jayawardene, FOUR, Mahela's brilliance is encapsulated in that shot. It is the 48th over of an ODI, the time when people are looking to whack the leather off the cherry. Not Mahela though. He gets a touch of width outside off, not the right length for the drive, and he makes his own pace using those silken wrists. Coaxed through point, and it leaves Watson in agony. Supreme.

Sri Lanka 266/6   DPMD Jayawardene 21* (27b 1x4)

Johnson to Jayawardene, FOUR, another one from the top-drawer. Mahela again makes his own room as he backs away and threads a cut through point. An inch of width was all Mitch offered, Mahela took a foot and more out of it!

Johnson to Jayawardene, FOUR, another stunner! Back of a length ball, angling across without offering any room, Mahela stays put on the crease and booms it over the top of extra cover. All timing, and he nearly gets six through the toughest area to time a ball in the cricket field. Off a good ball. Against a very good fast bowler. Wow!

Watson to Jayawardene, SIX, Oh Mahela, you thing of absolute beauty! He's standing deep in the crease, and then even as Watto gets into his delivery stride he shuffles across to off stump and squares up for a full length ball. It comes, and he laps it around with sublime timing. Over short fine leg. Over where deep fine leg will be. Over the ropes. By some distance. What stupendous timing!

Watson to Jayawardene, OUT, and he's gone after playing a little gem. Watson keeps it full and angling in again, Mahela looks to whip-lash over deep square leg, but finds the fielder. SL were completely losing course when he came in, and kept losing wickets. He saw them through a tricky phase and opened up at the very end.
