Left-arm spinner Enamul Haque jnr has returned to the Bangladesh Test squad after more than three years following his selection in the 15-man squad to tour Sri Lanka next month. Seamer Robiul Islam and batsman Jahurul Islam have also been recalled, while Mominul Haque has made it to the Test squad for the first time.

The major name that is missing is Shakib Al Hasan, out injured and about to undergo surgery to correct a shin injury. Elias Sunny was not included while Junaid Siddique and Nazimuddin were not in the 25-man preliminary squad, which was announced on February 18.

Enamul and Mominul have been taken to replace Shakib, according to chief selector Akram Khan who opted for prior international experience when replacing the allrounder.

Enamul has taken 105 first-class wickets in the last two seasons, the highest in the National Cricket League this season. His last Test appearance was in a Bangladesh win, and where he took six wickets. But he made way for a three-man pace attack against India thereafter, though he was in the Test squad, and indifferent ODI form had him excluded for the next three years. This time he was picked ahead of Mosharraf Hossain and Saqlain Sajib, left-arm spinners who have also done well this season.

In the case of Mominul, it was his recent ODI experience against West Indies which won him a place for a possible middle-order spot. He pushed aside Marshall Ayub, the season's most prolific batsman in first-class cricket, Akram saying it was a "50-50 call".

"This was a tough selection, because we had to pick two players to replace Shakib," Akram said. "Enamul won the left-arm spinner's position ahead of Mosharraf Hossain and Saqlain Sajib. He is in form and has Test experience. Mominul was also a tough call but we need a left-hander in the middle order, so Marshall Ayub, despite his two double-hundreds, misses out."

"I have spoken to Marshall on the phone, told him why he wasn't taken this time. But the door is still open for him, he should continue to perform as he has been. It is unfortunate that we had to leave him out."

Jahurul returns to the squad after playing three Tests in 2010, but he has played ODI cricket recently. Both he and Robiul have been kept as additional options, although the former has a good chance for a place in the top order, said Akram. "He [Jahurul] could be one of the top three with Tamim [Iqbal] and [Shahriar] Nafees.

"Robiul has trained in the National Cricket Academy during the BPL and he has played in the BCL. But we are not sure about Shafiul Islam, and in general we are facing a challenge to form a pace attack," he said.

The two-Test series in Sri Lanka will be Mushfiqur Rahim's first away Tests as captain after he took over in October, 2011. He will lead the middle order, which will include Naeem Islam, Mahmudullah and Nasir Hossain while it is now likely that Anamul and Jahurul will battle for the position of the other opener with Tamim Iqbal. Shahriar Nafees' BPL performance saved him a place in the squad after an indifferent showing in the Tests against West Indies.

Offspinner Sohag Gazi is also going to be a part of the first overseas Test series, and will be an automatic choice after an impressive start to his career late last year, but the pace attack will have to be assembled in Sri Lanka as only Rubel Hossain looks like a first-choice.

Bangladesh will begin the series with a three-day match against Sri Lanka Development Emerging Team at Matara from March 3 to 5, before the Test series, which begins in Galle on March 8. The second Test will be played in Colombo from March 16.

Squad: Mushfiqur Rahim (capt), Mahmudullah (vice-capt), Tamim Iqbal, Shahriar Nafees, Anamul Haque, Naeem Islam, Nasir Hossain, Sohag Gazi, Abul Hasan, Rubel Hossain, Enamul Haque, Jahurul Islam, Mominul Haque, Shahadat Hossain, Robiul Islam.

great team so far even without sakib , this would be the best 11 tamim , anamul , mahmudullah , jahurul , musfiq , nasir ,enamul , abul , shaddat , gazi , marshal

Mominul's inclusion ahead of Marshall Ayub in the squad does make some sense, as he had a quite a good debut international outing against the WI. but probably the stronger reason to include him is to have a left hander in the lower-middle order keeping in mind Lankan's have a good inform left arm spinner Rangana Herath. But then again Ayub's leg-spin could have been a good option too. Mehrab Jr. is also unlucky but he could have also made the squad in place of Shahdat to add more left hand power in the batting line up. Shahdat is hardly going to get any success, I wonder if he will bowl more than 10 overs even if he is selected for the starting line-up, he will definitely have economy of over 5 runs per over, I hope that this is the last chance selectors going to give to him.

This is a good series for Srilankan batsmen to improve their batting records after a debacle in the form of Aussies series.

u r replacing left hander with a left this the logic.....if it is then where is mehrah hossain jr....he had a good domestic season....why mominul....

rubel hossain, shahadat hossain, abul hasan, robiul islam.....!!!! i wonder who is going to are tested several times before..unfortunately failed to impact..hope the best ....

In high level cricket , its not important for a team at all whether the middle-order batsman is letf-handed or right-handed , what matter is how good and talented/promising the batsman is. The choice of akram khan to take momenul over marshall and some useless ballers over others is not praise-worthy . This guy wanted to resign in past because other selectors wanted to drop his nephew (tamim iqbal) for his bad form , this shows perhaps akram khan is not interested in the best possible team for BD rather his favourite combination of players for BD team. I dont know about other BD fans but I, a BD fan, seriously wish akram khan be dropped soon for the sake of BD cricket.

Posted by   on (February 25, 2013, 4:50 GMT)

Akra boos you do understand cricket better...and I believe as your strong fan you are not stupid.... But you wanted a lefty over a good batsman who deserve his name in the team is seems like stupid excuse....mominul has lot more to prove...Marshall made his point... Marshall have not played to replace shakib he played to make his own spot... Why Akram boss you are becoming one of them...who we hate as politician.....

Posted by TheBlackMonk on (February 25, 2013, 4:43 GMT)

3 players fighting for one opening slot, this is ridiculous. Considering Tamim an automatic choice for one slot, the other remains open for Nafees, Anam and Jahurul. The former one especially given enough chance to prove but failed and could be easily omitted. Now if the open slot is to be for first two, Jahurul would be default choice for first down and still Marshal is better choice anytime over him. The rest squad will be followed by Naeem, Mushfiq, Nasir, batsmen, if they go with it. Two spinners: Gazi & Enamul and two pacers: Rubel & Shahadat. Now, it would be unwise including Mominul in excuse of all rounder in a Test match, he is mediocre in every department and not ideal for test squad. Nasir is not in best form with bowling while Naeem/Mahmudullah is not as effective to take regular wickets in test, so again including Momin would be a bad decision. Now, if I can't give him a position at any situation, why taking him instead of Marshall!!!

My Squad: Mushfiqur Rahim (capt), Mahmudullah (vice-capt), Tamim Iqbal, Shahriar Nafees, Anamul Haque, Naeem Islam, Nasir Hossain, Sohag Gazi, Abul Hasan, Rubel Hossain, Enamul Haque, Jahurul Islam,Marshal Ayub, Abdur Razzak, Mashrafi And Shahadat.

not selecting marshall ayub and selecting shahadat/abul/robiul/mominul is crime, when we have so many good performer in BPL, DPL.

Posted by   on (February 25, 2013, 4:03 GMT)

squad should be now

tamim, anamul,nayeem/jahurul,nasir, mominul, musfiq, riad, sohag, rabiul, enamul rubel.

Posted by Ain_EL_Sabet on (February 25, 2013, 0:49 GMT)

BD SELECTORS NEED TO BE SELECTED FARMORE THAN THE TEAM . Seriously, Marshall Ayoub is a sharp talented player with good prospect/potential, this type of player should be given chance so that he develops and soon do service to bd cricket. Its not the case that Mominul huq has already gained good experience , I mean momenul is pretty much new too , so the experience factor between mominul and marshall cannot be a big issue. Besides, selectors for a rising team like BD should look for potential(future) , not experience(past) .

Posted by   on (February 25, 2013, 0:41 GMT)

Nazmul is always a threat to srilankan. I remember once he took 4 wickets in the first four overs and srilanka was 6/5. I has very good bowling stats against srilanka and taskin would have been a surprise pace attack. Marshall ayub should have been selected before mominul. I would select as follows: tamim, shahriar, anamul, ayub, musufiq, nasir, mahmudullah, gazi, enamul jnr, taskin, nazmul.

Posted by Htc-Android on (February 25, 2013, 0:11 GMT)

Can someone explain me who is BD leading pace attack and spin attack here? Pace attack- Shahadat Hossain(Avg-50.79). Spin attack- Sohag Gazi( Avg-32.83, Although played only 2 tests) and Enamul Haque jnr(Avg-39.24). With this attack their fans talk about getting us out for 150. I hope sanga will be rested for the series. our youngsters will be more than enough for these bowlers. If chandimal can handle steyn, morkel and anderson then he will have no problems against these bowlers. I also hope shakib plays this series. Just to avoid their fans using shakibs absence as excuse for the series loss.

Posted by TheRisingTeam on (February 24, 2013, 22:19 GMT)

I'll laugh so loud if Mominul is selected ahead of Anamul just because he bats 'left' handed. What kind f excuse is that by chief selector Akram Khan? what else does someone like Marshall needs to do to get a first team spot? Why no Nazmul or Shafiul is our test squad 2 bowlers far far better than Robiul and Shahadat? if its because we are to lose then okay its the only thing we're good at anyway.

Posted by   on (February 24, 2013, 22:12 GMT)

(OMG, this selection makes me want to leave supporting BD team), It seems Akram khan wants BD to lose its test status, like Ashraful, nazimuddin, Junaid, Sahadat; Akram khan should be replaced too!! He favors his "favorite" players over the ones who can make the difference,

Raazak, Marshall, Nazmul, Taskin Over, Naaem,Mominul, Sahadat,Robiul.....

Test IX: Tamim, Shahriar,Marshall, Anamul, Musfiq, Nasir, Mahmudullah,Gazi, Enamul, Rubel, Razzak, Taskin/Nazmul

ODI IX: Tamim, Shahriar, Jahrul, Marshall/Anamul, Mushfiq, Nasir, Mahmudullah, Gazi, Taskin, RUbel, Razzak,

Posted by SapnerJadukar on (February 24, 2013, 21:53 GMT)

This is virtually same team they played recently with W.I. Shadat will be a total waste of space. Selectors could given a chance to taskin. Samsur should be an automatic choice for opener. He looks more solid in opening than tamim to be honest and can play longer innings. Where as after 30/40 runs tamim doesn't look solid, tends to throw his wicket. Mominul is good but other better choice are there. This selection is in a mess I think. Akram khan colud have done better. For our team that doesn't play lot of international games, recent performances should be given priority with the experiences that they don't have anyway.

Posted by cric-07 on (February 24, 2013, 21:27 GMT)

i don't know whether i should even bother to watch these matches. Shahadat was the reason bd lost the asia cup, robiul is a medicore bowler. Why not pick u taskin??? Really depressing to see the same mistakes made by selectors over and over again. I bet they will pick up ashraful for zim series instead of giving chance to young players like nurul, ayub, sabbir, etc. Why don't consider captain's opinion for selection????

Posted by   on (February 24, 2013, 21:07 GMT)

Maybe marshal will be picked in Zimbabwe series. First start easy then hard but still cant believe this selection panel, atleast include marshal ayub! Remember when Tamim was dropped and Akram Khan left.... he should have left for good!

Posted by Energetic. on (February 24, 2013, 19:48 GMT)

Something is not right with our selection panel, Shahadat and Robiul have failed to live up to the mark just look at their stats. Taskin, Shafiul and Nazmul would've been much much better picks than these 2. Why Mominul? he hasn't even scored 1 50 in any of his 5 ODIs against the West Indies and had a dismal BPL 2, whereas Marshall was the top run scorer by a distance at first class level this season but still cannot get picked because he doesn't bat left handed what difference does that make? Congratulations Sri Lanka on a 2-0 innings win. We don't deserve to play Test Cricket.

Posted by RK204 on (February 24, 2013, 19:37 GMT)

This is the best possible team than can be selected i guess.. i don't know why these people are arguing with the selection.. by reading those comments i have a serious doubt about their cricketing knowledge.. Look mominul is certainly not the better option but u have to understand that Marshall Ayub has no experience about international cricket. whatever he has got that is in BD and in our club cricket so giving him a chance and that is in other condition that really doesn't make any sense.. on the other hand i don't see mominul getting any chances in the test team... he might get it in ODI so it's better for the team if he can know what is the condition which might help him as well as BD team in the ODIs..

Posted by tushar35 on (February 24, 2013, 19:30 GMT)

To the selectors and supporters; enough is enough. Please no more experiment with Ashraful, Junaid, Nazimuddin, Shahadat. We really don't have any room for them in our team in any format. If any opener is injured, I believe Imrul Kayes still a better choice. Please let the tiger roar with some fresh blood.

Posted by tushar35 on (February 24, 2013, 19:08 GMT)

Please replace Shahadat with Taskin. Taskin will be a surprise for Sri-Lankan batsman. I am urging Shadat, please step down for sake of BD cricket. You know that you are not a threat to any batsman. Whats wrong with Akram Khan? Why he is giving left hand / right hand excuse? We need batsmen who can play longer version cricket. Marshall Ayub would have been a better choice. If you have time, please make those two changes for the sake of Bangladesh Cricket. Picking Shahadat definitely was a dumb idea. Please be wise while selecting team, specially when others pointing fingers against BD test status.

Posted by   on (February 24, 2013, 18:37 GMT)

Where is Adur Razzak, he is the most successful BD bowler in my opion. The fact that Shakib is not in the squad, it was very important that Razzak was included in the squad. There are just way too many unworthy pacers in the squad. Bangladesh does not have very good or reliable pacers, then why include so many pacers. Always include your best bowlers, does not matter if they are spinners or pacers.

Stupid selection, Shahadat Hossain is good for nothing. He is the reason why Bangladesh lost so many matches. I wonder if he is related to someone with BCB, otherwise why he will be getting so many chances. Nazmul Hossain is much better than the four fast bowlers selected. Marshall Ayub surely deserves a chance!!!

Posted by   on (February 24, 2013, 18:17 GMT)

also shafiul and especially nazmul deserved a slot, i dont even remember rabiul ever taking a single wicket and shahadat is the guy who huffs and puffs and nothing happens..pathetic selection

Posted by   on (February 24, 2013, 18:13 GMT)

extremely frustrating ashraful or marshall? like why is jahurul even in the team? both his or mominul's performance cant even come close to marshall's.Ashraful has an avg. of 40 against SL and he was good in the bpl, no idea why he wasnt picked.. like very very disappointed...and on top of that no shakib..brace yourselves..we are gonna get beaten so bad

Posted by   on (February 24, 2013, 18:03 GMT)

Lamest reasoning ever given by Akram Khan on non- selection of Marshall Ayub.He is THE BEST PERFORMING BATSMAN over last couple of years in domestic circuit! What more he could do to be selected? Totally disagree with this decision.

Posted by   on (February 24, 2013, 17:55 GMT)

My ideal Test XI would have been: 01.Tamim Iqbal.02.Anamul Haque.03.Raqibul Hasan.04.Jahurul Islam.05.Mushifiqur Rahim.06.Nasir Hossain.07.Mahmudullah Riad.08.Sohag Gazi.09.Rubel Hossain.10.Taskin Ahmed.11.Enamul Haque Jr.

Strongly backed up by Shamsur Rahman,Marshall Ayub,Mominul Haque,Sanjamul Islam,Abul Hasan and Abdur Razzak.

Abul Hasan needs to concentrate on his line and length and adapt himself to swing bowling in which i think he will be highly effective rather then pace bowling. When he bowls bouncers to the opposition batsmen it is just awful, because he has not got the pace to trouble most batsmen.

Posted by   on (February 24, 2013, 17:10 GMT)

Tamim Iqbal can be an elegant batsman in bouncy pitches like in England, but in flat track pitches he can be his own worst enemy. He lacks the endurance and wrist playing shots to overcome the flat track pitches.Like most Bangladeshi batsmen he does not believe in rotating strike especially after scoring a boundary.

Shahadat Hossain is a lazy laid-back character and the maximum you can get out of him is around 60% to 70%.If he were to bent his back and give his 110% like Rubel Hossain does then he would have been a great asset to Bangladesh.

Akram Khan needs to see the bigger picture in his selection policy rather than relying on players who have no hunger or the desire to learn and succeed.

Posted by Tarzan_Khan on (February 24, 2013, 16:50 GMT)

Akram Khan was not at his best in selecting the Test squad. Since when the Left/Right handed Batsman criteria became more important than selecting a Batsman who is capable of scoring more runs??

What a laughable excuse he has provided for not selecting Marshall Ayub!! Why you must have to have a left handed middle order, who happened to be not so fluent against quick Bowling, and left out one of the best Batsman in the country who is capable of scoring big totals?? Sorry for the run-on, I just hope this poor judgment doesn't demoralize Marshall Ayub. He is among the finest, and I am really sorry for him.

On a different note, I understand Enamul Jr. has previous Test experiences, but at this moment Mosharraf Hossian is in a fantastic form, and he has also done well with Bat. MH truly deserves the spot !! All the best to BD in SL !!

Disappointed with Akram Khan's selection,he has missed out on three players who would have made all the difference. It would have been a brilliant learning experience for Taskin where the conditions would have suited his development and he has the talent and hunger, even at this tender age to progress in the Sri Lankan tour.He would have been the perfect partner to Rubel Hossain, where Rubel would have needed to concentrate on his line and length and let Taskin pick up the wickets, like Anderson and co.Sohag Gazi needs to bowl from wicket to wicket and let Enamul Haque Jr. pick up wickets.

To me the four best Test playing batsmen in Bangladesh are Shamsur Rahman,Marshall Ayub,Jahurul Islam and Raqibul Hasan, they need time and patience to develop just like Alistair Cook and Hashim Amla were given.

Some players can develop early like Taskin and Anamul, there are some who need to be nurtured like Mominul,Abu Haider and Nurul Hasan as long as they are willing to learn and have the hunger.

Posted by   on (February 24, 2013, 16:26 GMT)

why not taken razzak & marshal??????????????????????? why taken mpminul for test?????????????????

Posted by   on (February 24, 2013, 15:36 GMT)

The way Marshal Ayub performed in National cricket league and longer version games, after that it is very harsh to overlook him. Mominul did some good batting is one day and t20 version. Then why give him extra pressure to perform in test level. I think it is time for selectors, not to try each batsman in every level of the game. When some one is performing good in shorter version of the game then why not give him more time to jell with the team. We need specialist and different class batsman to perform in Test. please select different players according to their merits for performing in shorter version or longer version. do not put extra pressure in the shoulder of young stars. Give them time to be mature.

Posted by durjoy96 on (February 24, 2013, 15:20 GMT)

Not a very good decision to include Mominul. Marshall should have been given a chance. Mominul has been in a bad run of form lately-he didn't perform well in the BPL. Same problem with the pace bowlers. Rubel should share the ball with Robiul/Abul.

Posted by   on (February 24, 2013, 15:09 GMT)

Can someone please tell me why Shahadat Hossain is been selected again and again? is he performing well in domestic circuit? why selector choose so many pace bowlers in Srilankan wickets? Razzaq should have given one more chance as a specialist left arm spinner. Mominul Haq seems more than a one day and t20 batsman. Marshal Ayub definitely should get the opportunity. It is time for selectors to choose different specialist players in different form of the game.

Posted by Ovy_obni on (February 24, 2013, 14:09 GMT)

Its very disappointing, Marshal should have been in the squad. Not a single batsman in the BD team can last for more than 2 sessions in Test. And why not give a chance to Taskin Ahmed, he looks a far better bowler than Shahadat. We really can't rely on spin all the time.

Posted by mahafuz1983 on (February 24, 2013, 14:08 GMT)

@PkZindabaad....hahaha....good one,,,u r right....lot's of 'ul'...but strangely when i tried to find some in ppl i know i only find one "Aminul" I think they tried to replace shakib by mominul....not a bad idea...they should go with one pacer in rubel and 8 batsman.....1.Tamim, 2. Nafees, 3. Anamul/Jahirul, 4. Naeem, 5. Musfiq, 6. Nasir, 7. Mahmudullah, 8. Mominul, 9. Gazi, 10. Enamul. 11. Rubel Agree with everyone Marshall Ayub should have been given a chance, whats the point performing in BPL then

Posted by   on (February 24, 2013, 14:00 GMT)

Not too bad a squad, except they picked Shahadat Hossain yet again! Seriously the bloke is nowhere near test standard and has had so many chances. What have Nazmul Hossain , in particular, or Shafiul Islam done wrong?!! Also when is Mashrafe Mortaza going to be available for test cricket again?

My pick for 1st test: Tamim, Anamul, Shahriar, Naeem. Mushfiqur, Nasir, Mahmudullah, Abul/Robiul, Sohag, Enamul Jnr, Rubel.

Posted by Crikoot on (February 24, 2013, 13:25 GMT)

Its time to think if Akram is worth enough to head selection team. In this DNA age, you just can't solely depend on your guts and assumptions. Instead use anlaytics as the tool which use billions of data to come to a conclusion. There are so many questionable selections this time around -- Shahadat is the worst. Teskin could have been a better choice.

What a squard will be thrashed #whitewash is always on the cards , and some of the lankans will help there avg and offcourse will see some centuries

Posted by Lakpj on (February 24, 2013, 13:06 GMT)

Seems that Bangladesh selectors have already ruined the dreams of many of their fans even before the series had begun. I have a funny feeling that SL might prepare some seamer friendly tracks for this series. By that way they can exploit the Bangladesh batsmen and negate their spin bowlers. Furthermore their fast bowling may not worry the Lankan batsman a lot. Few months ago the SL board had asked all the domestic grounds to prepare pitches with grass for the domestic games.

Marshall Ayub comes before Mominul any day

Posted by   on (February 24, 2013, 12:52 GMT)

I am surprised, Have ICC declared any rule to include a left-hander in the middle order? How it is rational to neglect such good performance of Marshal Ayub with such "funny" judgement??? I would rather include a "one-handed" batsmen, if he is supposed to score more runs.

Mehrab junior left handed batsman is better than mominul

Posted by PkZindabaad on (February 24, 2013, 12:28 GMT)

Shakib will be missed very badly for bangladesh. The most of the members of the squad filled guys whose name end up such as mul (momimul) , bul (rakibul), ful(Shafiful) , kul, tul.. seems like people over there are obsessed to end name in these types of "ul". interesting don't you think?

Posted by SyedAreYouDumb on (February 24, 2013, 12:19 GMT)

Akram Khan please leave selection committee, seriously MARSHAL AYUB MISSES OUT? This is is the worst mistake you have done (and you have done many). Mominul is good but he needs more guidance. This selectors want Bangladesh not only to lose but lose by an innings!

Posted by bangla_slog on (February 24, 2013, 12:14 GMT)

There is a gap between International Cricket and out domestic cricket. Alok Kapali, Tushar Imran, Mehrab Jr, Rakibul had problem bridging this gap. I think that is the reason these people were not picked again after a few tries. I think Mushfiq was not exacltly world class 2/3 years ago. But he improved immensely. So has Mahmudullah, consistency wise. We need either raw talents like Nasir, Anamul or people who can improve quickly like Mushfiq. So I agree with ignoring Mehrab Jr. I am iffy about Junaed, Naeem and Shahreear. Not sure if they will ever be as good as the other guys. But we are very close to getting a really solid batting line up for the first time. Tamim, Anamul, Nasir, Sakib, Mushfiq, Mahmudullah. Losing Sakib ruins everything though.

Come on; Mominul instead of Marshall just because he is a leftie? Seriously there can be no possible advantage just due to him being left handed. What of Shafiul and Nazmul? Shahadat puts more effort in grunting than in seam bowling.

Posted by   on (February 24, 2013, 11:52 GMT)

Marshall Ayub should really have been picked ahead of Jahurul or Nafees. If you score over 1000 FC runs including 2 double centuries and still dont get selected for test squad, I dont know when you ever will !! This is real injustice.

Posted by   on (February 24, 2013, 11:50 GMT)

Marshall should have been in the team...he is performing at this moment and should have been preferred to nayeem

Posted by Energetic. on (February 24, 2013, 11:46 GMT)

These fast bowlers of ours the selectors picked average with the ball 50, 60, 70 and a 100 something that's why for some reason. Now I wonder if we are able to compete but I doubt with that bowling we have come even close. If Anamul doesn't play then we're doomed but I like our spin combination Gazi and Enamul jr which could be effective.

Posted by TheRisingTeam on (February 24, 2013, 11:37 GMT)

What a joke! our fast bowling is probably the worst you will every see in Cricket and Mominul is an ordinary player and Marshall deserved the nod instead. Our selectors never learn especially with Shahadat after what he done in the Asia Cup final. That's the best 11 I think from this final squad:-

Tamim, Shahriar, Anamul, Jahurul/Naeem, Rahim, Nasir, Mahmudullah, Abul, Gazi, Rubel and Enamul jr.

OMG!the one and only shahadat hossain is available.......he is there to ensure a clean white wash for bangladesh team against selectors took him to destry others efforts and make this series a superhit comedy drama.

@saifur.raffael and @Raihan24r absolutely correct man.

Posted by   on (February 24, 2013, 11:01 GMT)

Well. I don't understand why SHAHADAT? To me and I think to all cricket supporters, HE is the most worst cricketer that ever selected in Bd Team. I did hardly see any good delivery from him unless he gets wickets by chance. Bd Team got rid of Mr. Belim and Mr. Kayes and I hope very soon we will get rid from SHAHADAT. Don't mind SHAHADAT if you read it. It is competition of the modern age where quality and performance speak. Sodhu jore bol korlei hoy na. Aaro kiso lage.

I also wondered to see Mominul in place of Ayub/Ashraful. Any way, good luck Bd Team.

Posted by   on (February 24, 2013, 10:58 GMT)

Taskin Ahmed should get a chance as experiment as the pace attack is worst with Rubel and Robiul (look their test averages). Shahadat was impressive in first few years but poor during last 6 tests. It will be definitely 0-2 at test, because the bowling department has no ability to take 20 wickets in a test. FACT!!

Posted by FiGhtCluB_99 on (February 24, 2013, 10:53 GMT)

Mominul, Anamul, Jahurul, Enamul, Robiul. Nice names :)

Posted by saifur.raffael on (February 24, 2013, 10:06 GMT)

Probably only player in the BD team that have a permanent cemented spot in every test squad. No matter even if he performs the worst performance ever by a cricketer of the cricket arena of BD. And that Overated [ Only By great BCB ] and the most worst cricketer of Bangladesh ever produced is THE GREAT SHAHADAT HOSSAIN.

Posted by British_North_America on (February 24, 2013, 10:06 GMT)

Power and control of Akram Khan should be reduced in Bangladesh Cricket.I think that meeting with Prime Minister made him over confident.

Posted by BabuMRafi on (February 24, 2013, 9:38 GMT)

Where is Samsur Rahman???

Posted by Harshu88 on (February 24, 2013, 9:32 GMT)

Y nt mosharraf hossain and ferhad reza, . . Also arafat sunny and ariful haque should get chance. . .

Posted by cricfan66 on (February 24, 2013, 9:30 GMT)

Are you kidding me?? What is wrong with Akram Khan and Co.? Marshal Ayub hit double century (289), highest run getter in 4 matches with average of 77.5 ...Mehrab Hossain Jr. also hit a double average of 62.5 in the NCL and they are not considered? What kind of performance do you want for these guys to get a nod? Sorry but have a hard time accepting the "left hand middle order batsman" argument. Well Akram Khan, I sure hope Mominul delivers. Oh yes, why are you guys persisting with Nayeem? Makes no sense when there are quality players in the wings.

Posted by British_North_America on (February 24, 2013, 9:30 GMT)

If BPl performance is prioritized over BCL for test then what is the purpose of BCL?

Posted by   on (February 24, 2013, 9:28 GMT)

Very sad for Marshall Aiyub. I think, this time Akram Khan take a wrong selection. His opinion that team need left handed batsman, but Marshall Aiyub is a right handed. But sir, please look the line-up (tamim, naffees, mominul, abul, enamul) 5 player bated in left hand.

Posted by saifur.raffael on (February 24, 2013, 9:18 GMT)

"He [Jahurul] could be one of the top three with Tamim [Iqbal] and [Shahriar] Nafees" Akram Khan said..Are you guys saying that you are going to go for Jahurul ahead of Anamul !!!!

Posted by Fareen on (February 24, 2013, 9:13 GMT)

Sensible lineup. In my opinion, Anamul is not ready for 5-day matches yet as he has some flaws in his technique, so Marshall Ayub could have replaced him @ No. 3 with Nafees opening with Tamim. Anyway, delighted with Enamul getting back, it was high time he's recalled. The spin attack looks good with him and Sohag Gazi, but Shahadat Rubel Abul and robiul, that's the weakest Bangladesh pace attack for some time now.

Posted by Raiyan24r on (February 24, 2013, 8:58 GMT)

what wrong did nazmul hossaain do??he is currently the BEST SWINGING BOWLER FOR BD.robiul and shahadat??why them??shafiul would even doesnt make sense...nazmul could be like philader if given the proper chance.he has accuracy and swing.

Posted by   on (February 24, 2013, 8:33 GMT)

Very disappointed with the pace attack. Only Rubel looks decent enough, but even he has the tendency to gift away runs. The spin attack of Gazi and Enamul looks strong, but no wonder Bangladesh will miss Shakib's bowling. This squad shows the weakness of Bangladesh's first Class cricket structure. Taskin Ahmed should be nurtured properly so that we see him in the Test side within a year. Also, where is nazmul? Also, marshall ayub could be given a chance in place of Mominul, who does not look very reliable to me. Nafees is not very comfortable in No.3, and has played well in BPL at the opening slot, so he shud open and let Anamul bat at 3, his preferred place in First class games. My XI: Tamim, Nafees, Anamul, Naeem/ Jahurul, Mushfiq, Riyad, Nasir, Gazi, Abul, Rubel, Enamul jnr

Posted by Tashnim on (February 24, 2013, 8:30 GMT)

its not a good selection at all. Nafiz, rabiul, johirul why there? Not pick any allrounder, who will play shakib rules? Nazmul & ash should pick & kapali need to get chance. Anyway best of luck to team tiger

Posted by Rafelgibt on (February 24, 2013, 8:25 GMT)

As Nafees(The proven failure) scored a century in BPL 2(T20 match) he got into the team (For the TEST squad) and 4 pacers have been included as we are going to AUS or SA not SL.What is wrong with the selectors?Otherwise team is quite ok.

Posted by   on (February 24, 2013, 8:20 GMT)

My opinion very good team at this moment. However I hopefully for Raqibul hasan should be added for his current performed.

Posted by   on (February 24, 2013, 8:05 GMT)

I guess if your last two letters are ul you make it to the squad:))

Posted by t2_t24 on (February 24, 2013, 8:04 GMT)

One of the worst selection.. Where is Marshall Aiub who scored lots of runs in recent first class macthes. So that means no value of first class match. This is totally disappointed... This is not time to pick up mominul and anamul in test matches.. Shahriar nafees should be given chance in ODI not in Test Match.Very disappointed selection for the players who are performing well in first class cricket..

Posted by HABIBJOY on (February 24, 2013, 8:00 GMT)

no reason for pick shahadat hossain, no influence in his bowling at all. just waste of time to see him in squad.............

Posted by Shah71 on (February 24, 2013, 7:54 GMT)

They should pick Ashraful . After all this team looks good. My Team Tamim, Shahriar Nafees, Anamul Haque, Mushfiqur Rahim, Nasir Hossain, Mahamudullah , Sohag Gazi, Abul Hasan, Rubel Hossain, Enamul Haque, Shahadat Hossain/Mominul Haque.

Posted by   on (February 24, 2013, 7:52 GMT)

why too many fast bowler.what bd will do with abul has lost sakib, instead of sakib there should have a solid batsman like MARSHAL AYUB.he was the highest run taker in this legue with 2 double centuries.then whats else require to get chance in national team

Posted by R.Raihan on (February 24, 2013, 7:42 GMT)

What about Marshall Aiyub?? highest run scorer of the season...!!!!!

Posted by S-Matrix on (February 24, 2013, 7:39 GMT)

The pace attack still features the old names - Abul Hasan, Shahadat, Rubel and Robiul.

Posted by   on (February 24, 2013, 7:39 GMT)

i'm just done. why the hell would they pick robiul, naeem, and shahadat instead of players who performed really well in the last ncl like marshall, shajidul, and nazmul???? this makes no sense at all. the selectors are nuts

Posted by   on (February 24, 2013, 7:39 GMT)

Okay to be honest we are in big trouble. First off still no Ayub in this squad but you put Shahadat in, how can that be? Immediately after that the bowling power is pretty weak if were are relying on Abul/Rubel/Shahadat for any of the pacing positions, Sohag has a lot of work to do but he's to new for us to count on him. As for batting, Tamim will classically get out as tests are not his game, and and there really are no other in-form batsmen that can keep a game longer than 20 overs. Still this is the number one surprising team playing the number one unpredictable sport, anything can happen.

Posted by Anidollar on (February 24, 2013, 7:32 GMT)

Mominul and Shahadat is Really bad selection and also Marshal should be added.

Posted by Third_Gear on (February 24, 2013, 7:32 GMT)

Ashraful ,Mehrab Jn Or Marshal Ayub should have been considered for Test squad.

Posted by Sarobar on (February 24, 2013, 7:30 GMT)

I wonder why Marshal Ayub was not given a chance. He is in good domestic form.
