Bangladesh in Sri Lanka Test Series - 2nd Test

Sri Lanka v Bangladesh

Sri Lanka won by 7 wickets

Overs 1-50  | Overs 51-100

All set then. The flight is about to take-off, make sure you have fastened your seat-belts and your seat backs are upright. All electronic equipments are luckily permitted here. Tamim Iqbal is taking strike - his last match was on Feb 8 in BPL where he injured his wrist. Kulasekara to start

The relaid pitch is expected to have a lot more life, it seems to have a bit of moisture underneath. Russell Arnold says it will be slightly two-paced, but it should settle down to provide good Test cricket.

Zak: "Hoping for another thriller. .! Welcome back Tamim" - The last match was anything but a thriller Zak.

9.30 am: Sri Lanka have won the toss and chosen to field first. Very interesting, that decision might hold clues about the nature of the pitch. Suranga Lakmal is the only change in SL squad. He replaces Mendis. Bangladesh have gone in with three changes - Tamim for Anamul, Robiul for Sunny, and Rubel for Shahadat.

Isam from the ground: "Tamim and Rubel were expected to return, but Robiul Islam is a surprise. One would have thought Bangladesh would go for a second spinner, despite the promise of a seamer-friendly wicket"

Rags: "I think it is the perfect decision to field first..SL will need to bat only once, as I do not see Bangla batsmen surviving the morning freshness.."

Nasir Uddin Gazi: "so, BD play the test match without a specialist left arm spinner after a very long time. infact i can't remember when BD palys a test match without a left arm spinner."

Karnain: "Good thing that SL has won the toss. Suranga Lakmal in playing 11? He has a massive bowling average of 62+ & never has taken more than 3 wickets in an innings in 13 Tests. Let's hope he will prove me wrong & prove what he's made of."

shams: "After winning toss decided to field- one would think there is venom at least early in the day. Eagerly waiting to see BD approach after so much hype and expectation. Finger crossed for a gripping test."

9.15 am: Welcome, Bienvenue, Wilkommen to our coverage of the second Test between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. The match starts in roughly 45 mins from now all eyes will be on that 22-yard strip in the middle. I hope they dish out a better surface this time, as I feel the real stars of the previous match were the bowlers who were asked to toil tirelessly with no help at all. Herath, Gazi, Eranga, Shahadat - all bowled their hearts out and I hope they get a surface that can test out batsmen from both sides.

Mohammad Isam is at the ground and he sends this update: "Bright and sunny, its the start of the weekend in Colombo but there's no real crowd in. Both teams are going through fielding drills. Some of the Bangladesh players are into slips catching."

Isam and Andrew Fernando have both analysed what the two teams needs to do in the second Test, so please check out the match preview. Sri Lanka could also opt for a third seamer in place of Ajantha Mendis here. Meanwhile, Mushfiqur Rahim has asked his troops to march on from the hangover of the last Test, they have a fully-fit squad this time.

Raj: "The expectations of BD supporters are high and nows the real time for the BD team to collapse. Let us see if they can show the change."

CGI: "@Raj, don't underestimate BD side, my opinion is confidence makes only difference between two sides. Both sides have almost similar bowling attack, SL top order is reckless as usual. So anything is possible in a live pitch"

Faysal: "Everyone is taking this match as the test of BD team, why dont you think it's may be the same for SL?" - It is a test for SL too Faysal, they haven't been as dominant at home as they used to be when Murali was around. They are a young team too.

Anupriya: "@ Faysal: Yes it is test SL too..Specially for Mathews to show his captancy as everybody criticize his captancy after last TEST..but I think this is time to prove that he is good captain..Good Luck captain..waiting to see the first TEST win.."

Mohammad Ashraful    1* (1b)      KMDN Kulasekara    4-0-10-1

There is some problem with the ball. They are replacing it as it has gone out of shape. I remember the New Zealand's last Test in Sri Lanka where they were changing balls every few overs..

17.4

Eranga to Jahurul Islam, 3 leg byes, oh another one stops just before the boundary! It was down the leg side and it flicked the pads along it's way. Everyone looked keenly to see if this one was going to make it, but it didn't

17.5

Eranga to Mohammad Ashraful, FOUR, here comes the first boundary!!! It was a beautiful square drive off the front foot and the batsman got enough power and timing on that one. Somehow it managed to break out of the magnetic pull

17.6

Kulasekara to Jahurul Islam, 1 run, fuller delivery outside off, the batsman pushes at it without getting to the pitch of it and edges it past second slip

Lunch, day 1: So a mixed first session at the Premadasa Stadium. Sri Lanka chose to field first hoping the pitch would aid their seamers, but that didn't happen. In the end, they must be a little relieved to pick up Ashraful's wicket from nowhere. Bangladesh also showed good resistance, but have lost two of their experienced batsmen. The outfield reminded me of this.

Nazmul: "@ Ismail, if am not mistaken, SL playing only one genuine spinner too. Maybe its the curator who is fooling around with both the team :)"

Indika: "@ ismail - It seems BD fans are really overestimating their spinners. Believe me Srl batsmen have no fears regarding your spinners. They have NEVER performed well against us! Why does cricinfo publish more comments from Bd fans and so few from srl fans?"

Namwar: "@Indika, do u know that population in Dhaka city(unofficial) is more than Sri Lanka??"

Kamsy: "@Indika Its just because of whole BD is following this match, and very few in SL even know there is a Test series going on.."

Tamim: "am i the only one to think that Mathews elected to field first because of the outfield, not because of the pitch? he preferred to bat at the 4th innings than the 1st one on a pitch that is said to be helpful for the bowlers later on!!" -- Yes you are right Tamim, I think you are the only one.

Ruwan: "i think SL initial plan is to get bd oud and get decent lead so they wll be able to get wickets by day 4- where it will be ideal for herath"

Ok, three comments from SL to two from Bangladesh, hope that satisfies you Indika. But honestly, a lot more feedback from Bangladesh, about everything. Like Magur_Muzib from Bangladesh is cooking a catfish and that is making me hungry.
