Bangladesh in Sri Lanka ODI Series - 3rd ODI

Sri Lanka v Bangladesh

Bangladesh won by 3 wickets (with 6 balls remaining) (D/L method)

Dilshan and KJ are walking towards the middle, Shahadat to start, over the wicket

Pitch has an even covering of grass, and is expected to bounce and give some help to the fast bowlers, will stay even throughout the day. 260 is a good score, reckons Russell Arnold. Here is a history of ODIs in Pallekele.

2.00 pm: Sri Lanka have won the Toss and decided to bat first. Bangladesh are going in with one change - Shahadat Hossain comes in for Rubel. Sri Lanka are unchanged for the match.

Ron: "Hey Devashish you're back! You left us for one match and the game got washed away. Hopefully you brought luck for BD this time :D !" --- Ron, I have some doubts about your "brought luck" phrase. I am yet to see Bangladesh win a match when I am on comms. Ok yes, I was around when Bangladesh beat West Indies..

Sama Chathuranga : "Good luck SriLanka. I hope Kusal will continue his runs."

1.30 pm: Bangladesh have lost all their previous bilateral series in Sri Lanka but this time, they can improve on that record. A win here could help them square the series, but Sri Lanka would want to wrap this up 2-0 too. Here's more in our match preview. We are an hour away from the start of the match and hopefully the heavy clouds will stay away this time. The good news is, it's bright and sunny at the moment. Mohammad Isam, who is at the ground, is in awe of the lovely views.

The last match was frustrating for both teams as the rain pelted down throughout the afternoon. But Mushfiqur Rahim, who is dealing with captaincy pressures on the field, used the time to entertain his teammates in the dressing room. Was he playing charades here? That looks like he is doing a Yoda impression to me. What do you think?

Kamsy: "So he is saying "Like a Rabbit, jump I can""

"Ready to enjoy a full dose of cricket on an off-day at the university, and suddenly the professor calls for a make up class late in the evening. I wonder how many will actually turn up at the class!" Saimon, you could make up the make-up class later, but I don't want to be a negative influence. I think lectures are more important :).

"Hi Devashish. I am bit skeptical if we will be lucky to watch an uninterrupted game today! Checked the weather report, there is prediction of rain in the afternoon. Could be another D/L game." --- Rana, there are some high clouds, but nothing threatening at the moment. Predicting weather has never been so straightforward, ask Michael Fish.

Chin: "The sky is about 70% cloudy in Peradeniya Area. About 15-20kms away from Pallekele. The clouds are heading towards the direction of the ground but at this moment it doesn't look like so bad. Even though it is the situation at the moment no body can predict the rain here in Kandy the most unpredictable sudden rain of the whole country"

Nuwan: "@Chin, Peradeniya is in the Wet/Intermediate zone of Sri Lanka. Pallekele is on the other side of the mountains, in the hills that falls away towards the Dry zone. It may be a short distance but the weather is drastically different."

Laka: "Take my word today I'm living here more than 27 years, today not going to rain (100%) we can expect thunder & small drizzle but not rain."

Abdur Razzak to Thirimanne, SIX, he doesn't get four, he gets six! It was a length ball and quick too, the batsman takes two small steps and cracks it high and handsome over the midwicket boundary, smashes all the binoculars and microscopes..

Sri Lanka have made it past 300, after all those late speculations by the feedbackers. Thanks to some late hits by Thirimanne that got them across the line. But Sri Lanka's innings was set up by an excellent century - -his 16th (sorry Sriram) - by Dilshan and with good support from KJP and Sanga. There was a mini-collapse towards the end as wickets tumbled and at one point it looked like they were going to be halted at 280. But they did well and this is now a very good total on this ground. Abdul Razzak got to his 200th wicket with a five-for, and came close to his second hat-trick, but the seamers were generally unimpressive..We will be back with the chase in about 30 mins.

Buddhika: "There's lots of comments about SL middle order collapse today, but if we analyse why and how it happened it is clearly understandable. SL were going over 5 runs per over thro 20 - 35 overs and when Sanga fell, they didn't want to flow of runs stopped, so they decided to send in Thisara instead of Chandimal in order to keep left/right hand combination while accelerating the run rate towards the target of 300. When executing that plan they lost couple of quick wickets, but at the end they achived the target of 300 plus."

Bonium Tutul: "SL will think they are at least 30 runs short... BD will think they gave at least 20 runs more.. Now its time to see how we celebrate Razzak's 200 wkts.. with a win or loss...!!!" -- So what do you see through your binoculars?

Jashim: "@Bonium Tutul: With Tamim gone home, My binocular sees BD losing the match painfully. Sorry BD supporters:("

Ahsan: "My binocular is fine! I stored it away just in time! Expecting that six for a 300!" --- No no, I saw your responses where you were taking your words back..

ganny: "Finally I have seen 302 without bin0culars"

AARPEE: "We are too early to pass judgements. Binocular, will not reach 300, performance of the rest of the batsmen apart from the top three. Look at the score, excellent by any standard. And how many times we have seen two or three players excelling, and it is not necessary for each member to perform and excel all the times. It is a team work so let us enjoy"

Amit: "Looks like a psychic effect with the commentary feedback today.. people foreseeing 300 runs, 200 wickets, five-fors, centuries.." -- Yeah, someone said that right? Who was it?

Debasish: "One thing Mushfiq never learnt in his captaincy is not to allow Shahadat hossain bowl in dept overs. They lost Asia cup last time specially because of last over bowled by Shahadat."
