Bangladesh have drafted in uncapped left-arm spinner Sunzamul Islam and recalled allrounder Shuvagata Hom to the 16-man ODI squad for the three match series against Sri Lanka starting on March 25. Mahmudullah remained in the ODI squad after the BCB president Nazmul Hassan insisted he wouldn't be dropped from the format.

There were reports in some Bangla newspapers on Monday that Mahmudullah would be dropped from the ODI and T20 squads. From the squad that played against New Zealand in December, Bangladesh have axed Mehedi Hasan and Tanbir Hayder, both spinning allrounders.

Sunzamul's inclusion comes on the back of his exceptional form in domestic cricket in the last five seasons. In the recently-concluded domestic first-class competition, he took 25 wickets, including his first 9-wicket haul in an innings. He is also a handy batsman down the order.

Shuvagata has also been in decent form in the domestic first-class tournament. He made 265 runs with one century, and took 25 wickets. However, he last played an ODI in 2011.

Wicketkeeper Nurul Hasan has been retained in the squad. He had played the last two ODIs in New Zealand after Mushfiqur Rahim was injured in the first game.

Bangladesh ODI squad: Tamim Iqbal, Soumya Sarkar, Imrul Kayes, Mushfiqur Rahim, Shakib Al Hasan, Sabbir Rahman, Mahmudullah, Mosaddek Hossain, Mashrafe Mortaza, Mustafizur Rahman, Rubel Hossain, Taskin Ahmed, Subashis Roy, Sunzamul Islam, Shuvagata Hom, Nurul Hasan

Unfortunately neither Sunzamamul nor Shovagata has any significant records in their career at any level. Their inclusion in playing 11 may only weaken team performance until they can do something extraordinary. Although it is a rude conclusion about some individual but fact is none of them deserve to be fighting against Sri Lanka team. It may be they can play against Zim or Afg. It is a crucial competitive time for Bangladesh cricket and BCB management should keep that in consideration.

if Shuvagata play then Bangladesh will lose the match.

And it is very dissapointed when a former cricketer like Habibul Bashar says Shuvagata Hom is a Genuine Offspinner. I dont find any gorgeuos performances of Hom to be in the National Team Squads.

Lots of immature decisions had been taken for last few years by BCB officials and coaching staffs and selectors. And they are continuing it with full rhythm.

Inclusion of Hom always questioned the absence of Nasir. To be honest, Nasir is not a genuine bowler, he can be added in the squad where the team might need an extra batsman instead of a pacer. He only bowls wicket to wicket and on his day he can even get Kohli in his first spell. But that is not going to happen everyday, neither this team needs adding any more batsman in the squad. The bowling department has already fizz with mash, where Shakib adds a bonus to it. They even have Mahmudullah for bowling, though for some reason he was not bowling in his last couple of matches. All they should think of two genuine bowlers (according to pitch) for future prospect. Considering playing any genuine batsman won't do good for the team in the long run. For that reason, the inclusion of Hom makes no sense as he clearly needs a lot of works to do as a bowler.

They could have brought HOM in test based on recent form in 4 days FC games. Not to ODI team. BD ODI team is already good enough. Sunzamul also could have done better than Shakib in the bowling department in tests. But sorry they may not have the courage to touch Shakib.

DHAWALA05 I didn't want to put down BD or lift up SL, but that would be the final result most probably. It is evident that Chandika Hathurusinghe helped BD more than any other coach in the past, but it is still not enough. The problem is players are not applying it at the field. The simple reason is most of the players in BD secured their places in the team and not much replacements are available in the country. In contrast, SL dropped Chandimal in SA because he was struggling with his form. My request to BD is do the same thing to Sakib and bring somebody who is in form.

and still no Nasir Hossain in the BD squad, who is far better than Hom
