Nineteen-year-old offspinner Mehedi Hasan has been called into Bangladesh's ODI squad for the three-match series against Sri Lanka that starts on March 25. This is the first senior call-up for Mehedi in the limited-overs format. His addition means the squad now comprises 17 members, and it remains to be seen if he gets picked in the XI for the first ODI in Dambulla.

Mehedi was Bangladesh's highest wicket-taker in the Test series against Sri Lanka with 10 scalps, and has so far played seven Tests, taking 35 wickets at an average of 31.80. He had travelled back to Dhaka from Colombo with the other Test players not in the ODI squad, and will now return to Colombo today.

Mehedi has 27 wickets in as many List-A matches, having last played for Kalabagan Cricket Academy in the Dhaka Premier League last year. Mehedi was initially selected in the Bangladesh U-23 squad for the upcoming ACC Emerging Nations Cup, but has now been replaced by U-19 spinner Naeem Hasan.

Bangladesh ODI squad: Tamim Iqbal, Soumya Sarkar, Imrul Kayes, Mushfiqur Rahim, Shakib Al Hasan, Sabbir Rahman, Mahmudullah, Mosaddek Hossain, Mashrafe Mortaza, Mustafizur Rahman, Rubel Hossain, Taskin Ahmed, Subashis Roy, Sunzamul Islam, Shuvagata Hom, Nurul Hasan, Mehedi Hasan

Tamim, Sarkar, Sabbir, Imrul, Mosaddek, Shakib, Rahim, Mash, Mehedi, Taskin, Fizz. Play this ODI XI with the same line-up across conditions. Good solid XI. For more depth, get Nasir in for Mehedi when needed.

Everyone on in earth is better than Sir Shuvagoto. And it is funny to play 3 ODI we are keeping 17 players!! Who are confused? Selectors, Team Mangement or Others?

The resultant is our emerging cup squad is too weak to pass Semi.

Hope selectors and Team management will be free from Selection Dilemma before Champions Trophy and bring our best squad to England. Country must be prioritized first, leave all your Ego and other issues for the shake of better result.

To stay in the team Mahmudulla needs to practice his bowling now. He is a good bowler in shorter format. He could play another few years if his bowling remains good. As the u19 team player are catching up its good for BD cricket. This will push senior players to be responsible.

Even Saifuddin did a better job than Taskin in warm-up game. I think this guy can be a surprise factor for SL. Taskin and Rubel are very expensive bowlers now a days. Fizz, Mushrafe and Saifuddin should be picked. If not, Ruble is still better than Taskin in death overs. So Mush + Fizz + Rubel or Saif should be BD pacers. If its turning pitch go with Mush and Fizz only and open bowling with Mehdi.
