18,19,20,21,22 July 2010 (5-day match)
  • Overs 1-50
  • Overs 51-100
  • Overs 101-150

Sharma to Dilshan, no run, Dilshan plays like well.. Dilshan. Short of a length outside off and Dilshan throws his bat at it without moving his feet. Makes no contact. This is how this man gets his eye in!

Sri Lanka 9/0   TM Dilshan 0* (1b)

Mithun to Dilshan, no run, short of a length on the corridor outside off and this time Dilshan resists the temptation to thwack. Lets it go.

Mithun to Dilshan, no run, Loud appeal for lbw but there was an inside edge. Good ball from Mithun spearing in to Dilshan from outside off. He played across it loosely and got a faint edge on to the pads.

Sri Lanka 10/0   TM Dilshan 0* (3b)

Mithun to Dilshan, FOUR, over-pitched well outside off and Dilshan has seen enough of Mithun to lay into this one. Typical Dilshan style square drive, leaning forward and thrashing it away for his first four

Mithun to Dilshan, no run, better length, pushing him to back foot and closer to the batsman.

Mithun to Dilshan, no run, driving length and driven solidly but straight to mid off where Ishant stops it in rather clumsy fashion

Mithun to Dilshan, no run, big appeal and Dilshan survives! That one jagged back in once again from outside off. That is a Mithun special, Dilshan missed it and was rapped in front of middle. It would have hit leg. Harper did not think so. And mind you - No UDRS for this series. Since India did not want it.

Mithun to Dilshan, no run, and again! This one was going down the leg, but Dilshan had little clue about it. Raps him on the pads again

Mithun to Dilshan, no run, great stuff from Mithun! Beats Dilshan with a pacy ball in the corridor outside off. Dilshan affords a meek wafty off drive, and the feet are nowhere in place and just as well that he missed it

Sri Lanka 23/0   TM Dilshan 4* (9b 1x4)

Mithun to Dilshan, no run, Another in-ducker pitched up, this time Dilshan gets forward and defends down the track

Mithun to Dilshan, 1 run, again, comes in with the angle and Dilshan squirts it away off the inside half to square leg

Sri Lanka 31/0   TM Dilshan 5* (11b 1x4)

Sharma to Dilshan, no run, good ball, short of a length outside off and a hint of inward movement. Dilshan looks for the expansive cover drive, but nowhere in position for it.

Sharma to Dilshan, no run, big inward swing this time after it pitched, and more after passing the batsman. Dilshan shoulders arms confidently

Sharma to Dilshan, FOUR, Straighter ball outside off, and Dilshan squeezes it partly off the outside edge through gully where Sehwag dives over it. Four more to the third man region. This is a flier for Sri Lanka

Sharma to Dilshan, no run, short and well wide outside off 137.1 kph and Dilshan plays a nothing cut shot without moving and misses

Sharma to Dilshan, FOUR, Ojha makes a mess of it at square leg. Very good bouncer from Ishant, hurries Ishant into a completely out of control pull, it flies in the air and lands safe. Ojha runs across fine from square leg and then over-runs it

Sharma to Dilshan, no run, and again wide and short outside off, Dilshan does not bother with getting into position to cut and throws his bat at it. No contact made.

Sri Lanka 39/0   TM Dilshan 13* (17b 3x4)

Sharma to Dilshan, no run, that's as short a ball as you will see. Banged in well in his own half and it flies very high over the batsmen outside off. Called one for the over, in any other format it would have been a wide

Sharma to Dilshan, FOUR, short outside off, not much width but that's a good shot from Dilshan. That trademark whiplash cut and it flies behind square for four. Cracked away.

Sharma to Dilshan, no run, short and wide again outside off, this time Dilshan lets it go without much fuss

Sharma to Dilshan, no run, decent inward movement from outside off, but Dilshan's in the groove now. He gets half forward and defends easily to the off side

Sharma to Dilshan, FOUR, Wallop! That's the length he loves, driving length just outside off, it is perfect for Dilshan's footwork this ball, he gets in the perfect position with his half push forward and drills it on the up through the covers. Ishant has been a letdown so far

Sharma to Dilshan, FOUR, That was not a buffet ball, but Dilshan is tucking in greedily now. Back of a length just outside off and Dilshan goes for it without having the room or the length, and the timing is a little awry. Still carries to the outfield, where Mithun puts it a lot of effort to tag it, but can't save the boundary

Sri Lanka 51/0   TM Dilshan 25* (23b 6x4)

Mithun to Dilshan, OUT, Mithun has struck! Dilshan is gone! Very well-directed bouncer, angling in from off to leg, Dilshan is hurried into the pull and can only get some glove through to Dhoni. Lots of effort put into the ball, and as it happens so often, a wicket immediately after drinks. First Test wicket for Mithun and he deserved it. He's bowled exceptionally well to Dilshan all morning.
