India in Sri Lanka ODI Series - 2nd ODI

Sri Lanka v India

Sri Lanka won by 9 wickets (with 181 balls remaining)

Time to look at some mails.

Kalpesh: "How many times will you flog a dead horse? I guess this can be used for India V SL matches, surely this should stop. Don't think the Indian cricketers would mind if the break was for 2 more weeks. This series is not making any sense to anyone."

Srivardhan: "Persisting with Rohit does not make any sense when we have the likes of Manoj Tiwary warming the bench. Tiwary should be given his chance. Not to forget, he scored a century the last time he played for India."

Raja: "Sitting in office - The test series between SA vs ENG made me to watch it online but this ODI series doesnt have that impact despite being an Indian fan."

With the Olympics around the corner, this series will be lower on the list of priorities.

Kiri: "Indian and SL fans keep saying that Sanga was not aggressive enough and that cost us the match dearly. Well Sanga did get boundaries but I guess it wasn't consistent. The game plan when chasing is to anchor the team's innings.....then propel them towards the target with an attacking onslaught. Sanga did do that but he wasn't supported by others."

Toss: India win the toss and bat first. India are unchanged. For Sri Lanka, Isuru Udana comes in for Kulasekara.

Dhoni: "Bit more grass compared to the last game. May see more swing under lights. The ball does skid a lot then, so that's the one advantage the team batting second has."

Jayawardene: "The wind is pretty unusual here. It's dead grass here on the pitch. Udana is a talented young bowler. Pradeep will join us in Colombo."

For more on the wind, read what the captains said about it after the first match.

Graham Ford, Sri Lanka's coach, told Tony Greig that losing Kula is a big blow. He felt they may have overworked him against Pakistan. He added that it was a bit unfair he wasn't allowed a runner when he came out to bat. Something for the rulemakers to think about, says Tony.

1.55pm: Five minutes for the toss. Big blow for Sri Lanka with Kulasekara pulling out injured. Who will they pick?

Pitch: Tinge of green, bit more than for the previous game. It's still a win the toss and bat wicket, says Arun Lal.

1.35pm: Good day everyone and welcome to the coverage of the second one-dayer in Hambantota. High-scoring game to get the series underway. Pretty impressive the way India shrugged off a layoff by piling on such a big score. I didn't see a ball of the first game (I was travelling) but I was surprised to see the scores on what's considered a low scoring venue. Batting wasn't easy during the two T20s against Pakistan two months back.

Speaking of Hambantota, getting to the ground is sometimes a bigger story than the ground itself. I experienced it recently. Read on.

5.10pm: Quite a fall by the tourists after the first game. They were undone by some poor shot selection. Not taking any credit away from the way Sri Lanka bowled. Study the replays and see the number of poor shots, if ever you get the chance. True the wind was a factor, but the batsmen failed to show the kind of application Gambhir did.

From Sri Lanka's point of view, great comeback after the initial horrors with the wind and the number of wides. Perera has the knack of breaking through. We all know that. Join us in ten minutes.
