New Zealand tour of Sri Lanka, 1st ODI: Sri Lanka v New Zealand at Hambantota, Nov 10, 2013
5.1

Milne to Sangakkara, 1 run, good start, except for the misfield from cover. Corey Anderson is the culprit as Sanga leans into a checked cover drive to the fullish length ball pitching on and around off stump

5.2

Milne to Dilshan, 1 wide, wide called, rightly so as the ball was pitched on leg stump and seams further down. Dilshan was looking to flick it away to fine leg, but is beaten

5.2

Milne to Dilshan, no run, more movement into the right-hander, but he starts it from outside off stump and keeps a good length going. Dilshan is safely on his back foot and punches it to cover

5.3

Milne to Dilshan, no run, he flirts with that one, and is lucky not to get the kiss of death. It was a sucker ball, back of a length outside off stump and he goes for a lame looking cut shot

5.4

Milne to Dilshan, no run, beaten again! And Luke Ronchi spills the ball. There wasn't any edge, but NZ's fielding is usually better than that. This was a full length ball, swinging away a little and that was enough to take it past the outside edge and square Dilshan up. Good carry too

5.5

Milne to Dilshan, no run, on the splice of the bat that time and it was a back of a length outswinger from Milne again and Dilshan blocks it after covering the line. He seems to be one of those bowlers who zips onto the bat

5.6

Milne to Dilshan, no run, full and ducking into the batsman who presents a straight bat after getting on the front foot and keeps it out

Sri Lanka 29/1   AF Milne 1-0-2-0
7.1

Milne to Sangakkara, no run, back of a length outside off stump and Sanga negotiates it well, right under his eyes as he blocks

7.2

Milne to Sangakkara, no run, scoots away off a thickish outside edge as he bowls it on a full length on and around off stump. The ball runs off to point but the batsman have already sneaked the single

7.3

Milne to Sangakkara, no run, good lines from Milne. And Sanga respects it as he watches the full length ball on the off stump go to the keeper

7.4

Milne to Sangakkara, FOUR, oh, but now he errs short and wide and the batsman taps it away wide of point. He wanted to test the middle of the pitch that time, but if he wants to do that, he needs to tuck the batsman up. Sanga though just rode the bounce and placed the ball. Lovely shot

7.5

Milne to Sangakkara, no run, back of a length going across the left-hander who goes back and defends it to point

7.6

Milne to Sangakkara, 1 wide, oh, too wide outside off and Sanga is least bothered with it. He is keeping a nice fullish length though

7.6

Milne to Sangakkara, no run, much better. Makes sure he hits the same length but this time he is much closer to the batsman. But Sanga has seen it pitch on off and with the angle, easily lets it go to the keeper. Still a little bit of away movement on offer

Sri Lanka 39/1   AF Milne 2-0-7-0
9.1

Milne to Sangakkara, no run, play and miss. Milne is looking more and more impressive here. The only problem with this one was it was a little too wide. Sanga has been letting those go, but this time he fishes at it and the ball just brushes past his outside edge

9.2

Milne to Sangakkara, SIX, that's in the air, but it goes over the head of the long leg fielder. He top-edged the pull shot as Milne invested in another short ball, and his pace made Sanga;s timing go out the window but still the ball had enough to go for six and straight into the hands of someone in the crowd. Good catch that

9.3

Milne to Sangakkara, FOUR, oh absolutely delicious! That was overpitched, it had width, it needed to be put away. But Sanga does so with such mouth watering elegance. Foot to the pitch of the ball and just holds his pose as the ball skittles away through the covers

9.4

Milne to Sangakkara, 1 wide, anothe wide from New Zealand. Five wides in under 10 overs. This one was full, swinging away and going too far down the off side to interest Sanga

9.4

Milne to Sangakkara, no run, shortish but this one did not have any room on it. Sanga shuffles across and blocks off the back foot

9.5

Milne to Sangakkara, no run, waits for that one and plays it right under his eyes as he flicks the good length ball on his pads away into midwicket

9.6

Milne to Sangakkara, no run, lovely line and keeps it on a good length just outside off stumps and Sanga watches it go off to the keeper. Good way to end a slightly expensive over and that marks the end of the Powerplay

Sri Lanka 54/1   AF Milne 3-0-18-0
11.1

Milne to Dilshan, no run, good length ball on off stump and Dilshan is happy to push it back to the bowler

11.2

Milne to Dilshan, 1 run, pulled away, that wasn't quite as short, but Dilshan's quick hands makes that length ball on middle run off to deep midwicket

11.3

Milne to Sangakkara, no run, loud appeal from Milne as Sanga is rapped on the pads! it looked very close, but I reckon the ball was pitching outside leg stump. He kept it full and made sure the ball was on a wicket- to-wicket line, but that was a good decision from the umpire

11.4

Milne to Sangakkara, no run, on a good length going across the batsman who steps forward and defends

11.5

Milne to Sangakkara, 2 runs, stays a little down the leg side and Sanga takes full advantage of that, staying back in his crease and whipping it away to deep square leg

11.6

Milne to Sangakkara, 1 run, on the pads again, this time Sanga gets forward and flicks it to deep midwicket to retain strike

Sri Lanka 65/1   AF Milne 4-0-22-0
28.1

Milne to Dilshan, no run, goes off the inside half of the bat, which turns in his hand as he looks to drive on the up and down the ground. It was fullish and on midldle and goes off to mid-on

28.2

Milne to Dilshan, 2 runs, tucked away behind square leg as the ball was on a good length and the batsman are sprinting here. That is very good running and they turn a single into two

28.3

Milne to Dilshan, 1 run, short and well directed, but it doesn;t have all that much pace with the older ball and Dilshan has enough time to pull it to deep square leg

28.4

Milne to Mathews, no run, slower ball bouncer and that could have spelled curtains for Mathews! he was into the shot far too early having been completely deceived. He gets a bottom edge and the ball is deflected onto his boot when it could easily have gone through his legs and onto his stumps

28.5

Milne to Mathews, no run, back of a length outside off stump and he blocks it away with soft hands

28.6

Milne to Mathews, no run, good start to a new spell as he keeps this outside off stump and makes the batsman block

Sri Lanka 143/3   AF Milne 5-0-25-0
30.1

Milne to Dilshan, no run, gets hit somewhere around his stomach area. Too quick for Dilshan and there was a little inward movement too. He's been channeling that all day. He was looking to flick it away square on the leg side but to no avail

30.2

Milne to Dilshan, 1 run, this was outrightly dug into the middle of the pitch, and as such he had a little more time to see it. He got back and pulls it away to deep square leg

30.3

Milne to Mathews, 1 run, on a length on off stump as he covers the line and clips it away square on the leg side to get off the mark

30.4

Milne to Dilshan, FOUR, oh, lovely shot! What wrist work there from Dilshan! It was short again and this time he meets the ball with great intent, staying solidly balanced on his back foot and pulling it down behind square on the leg side

30.5

Milne to Dilshan, 1 run, darts into the batsman again off a good length as Dilshan looks to block it away, but only gets an inside edge and Mathews calls him through for the single

30.6

Milne to Mathews, 1 run, helps it off to long leg. It was shortish again and he swivels on his back foot and pulls it in the air down to the man on the boundary

Sri Lanka 152/3   AF Milne 6-0-33-0
41.1

Milne to Mathews, no run, full on off, Mathews makes room and drives it hard straight to mid-off

41.2

Milne to Mathews, no run, slow and short of length from the back of the hand on off, Mathews stays back and defends it back to the bowler

41.3

Milne to Mathews, no run, fuller on the stumps, Mathews drives again and it's gone straight to mid-off

41.4

Milne to Mathews, 1 run, short ball outside off, runs it down to third man

41.5

Milne to Chandimal, no run, back of length and angling in after pitching outside off, the batsman defends off the back foot

41.6

Milne to Chandimal, no run, back of length outside off, pushed to cover. Just a single from the over

Sri Lanka 221/5   AF Milne 7-0-34-0
44.1

Milne to Mathews, no run, angled down the leg side, hits him on the pads outside leg as he tried to whip it

44.2

Milne to Mathews, FOUR, short ball around off, Mathews stayed back and half-pulled it to the deep fine leg area for four. There's nobody in the deep there

44.3

Milne to Mathews, 1 run, short outside off, driven to sweeper cover for one

44.4

Milne to Chandimal, 1 run, slightly back of length outside off, driven wide of point for one

44.5

Milne to Mathews, 1 run, short of length around off, Mathews pulls but doesn't time it properly as it goes to long-on for one

44.6

Milne to Chandimal, no run, short and wide outside off, Chandimal cuts it firmly but can't clear point
