Junaid to miss rest of the second Test

Pakistan fast bowler Junaid Khan has been advised rest and will not play the remaining days of the second Test at the SSC.

Junaid was hit on the right side of the head by a bouncer from Dhammika Prasad in the 91st over of Pakistan's innings on Saturday but he continued batting and was unbeaten on 13. However, he needed medical assistance when he reached the dressing room and lost his balance. The bowler missed two sessions of play on the third day as he was under observation in a hospital.

"The impact of the hit was hard and the doctor has advised him two days of rest," Moin Khan, the Pakistan team manager, told ESPNcricinfo. "There is no fracture nor internal bleeding reported, so his tests are clear. But there is some swelling and he can't field because it hurts. He is talking and eating normally but there is a slight concussion which will recover with rest."

Junaid is the part of ODI squad for the three-match series which starts from August 23 in Hambantota. According to Moin, Junaid will need another day to recover from the swelling and is expected to be fit for the limited-overs games.

i think it's an unnecessary aggression from Junaid. He wanted to hit Prasad out of the game and didn't even stopped after getting hit, this is where the team management should have come in front. who got the eventual loss, its Junaid who needs to be hospitalized and Pakistan missed him in entire SL 2nd innings. This is not smart cricket. Smart cricketers should stay away from injuries at least from these nonsense aggression. Full marks for Prasad for knocking out the best opposition bowler. When will Pakistan team management will learn to be smart ?

I don't get it what was the point of letting Junaid Khan bat. When he came Pakistan was trailing by mere 5 runs. There is no difference between a trail of 5 runs or a lead of 12 runs. Misbah should have declared. Had Sarfraz been batting, it would have been understandable to let your tail enders bat to support him. But Ajmal and Junaid are completely useless with bat as we all know. We would have saved our strike bowlers and may be the match with that declaration. I know it is easy to make predictions in hind sight, but it must be lesson for us to learn for future.

Let's pray Junaid will get well soon and be fit for the ODI's. He is a pleasant and a disciplined player with nice manners. A very rare character among fast bowlers.

Wish he will get soon. Bad luck for Pakistan. Had he bowled in the second innings, Sri Lanka would not have made 200. Anyway, his future seems bright and I see him lot like Wasim. He has a big heart and can take wickets consistently in even flattest tracks. SL fan.

Feel sorry for the PK fans and team. JK is their star bowler. It was an unfortunate incident. He batted well and looked ok after the hit. But, apparently not. Hopefully, he will recover fast enough so that he can play for the ODI's. JK is an aggressive and smart bowler. He will give a good challenge to SL batting line up. Hopefully he will show up for the rest of the matches so that we can see a good challenges between bat and bowl.

Pakistan has to make serious selection changes. Why they are not selecting Fawad Alam with a first class average of over 50. He is a good fielder and a decent bowler. It gives them an option of a left handed batsman in middle order. A veteran like Younis Khan does not know how to sweep and also how to catch in Slip. He keeps his hands on knees whereas they should be in catching position to give him extra time. Close in catchers are same way like Younis. Our coaches have least ideas of coaching. Zulifqar is much better bowler than Abdul Rehman. Our batsmen need one month batting practice against left arm spin. Misbah should change his habit of occupying crease and should now revert to scoring at a decent rate. Khurram Manzur is not a test level batsman neither Shan Masood. We need to look for a reliable opening pair. Azhar Ali should learn how to bat beyond 30 runs.

Pakistan made a bad decision of picking up only 4 bowlers in the first place. Doesn't matter how many extra batsmen they inject into this bizarre batting lineup they will always lack quality. Or they should have included Hafeez even though he failed against Steyn but He is a good player of spin.

even if he misses the limited overs its ok but may allah help him revocer with the injury. head injuries are some times very dangerous we remember the death of raman lamba and thank god this was not severe as that. Get well soon junaid- from a sri lankan fan-

khuraam sahib, without junaid khan still 30 runs short of 300, dont under estimate players and also dont be over confident on players.
