West Indies 142/3   BP Nash 0* (5b)

45.1

Fernando to Nash, no run, Dilhara offers Nash width outside off, but he cannot capitalise to open his account. Mis-times the cut straight to point

West Indies 147/3   BP Nash 5* (8b 1x4)

48.5

Lakmal to Nash, no run, like this one, but Nash middles the forward defensive, out into the covers

48.6

Lakmal to Nash, FOUR, thump. Nash has come in with a positive attitude. He gets the width and the length to cut, and obliges with a really well-timed shot. It rasps off the meat of the bat and scurries through point into the boundary

53.3

Mathews to Nash, no run, full ball on off stump this time and it is punched off the front foor into the covers this time

53.4

Mathews to Nash, FOUR, shot. Nash plays a crisp cover drive, gets the placement just right to beat a running and diving widish mid-on and speed away to the boundary. That wasn't over-pitched, he made it happen by driving on the up

53.5

56.4

Mendis to Nash, no run, fuller ball on middle and off, Nash opens the face again and guides him square this time

56.5

Mendis to Nash, 3 runs, Hohoho! That was hilarious, and now I shall try to describe it without breaking into laughter again. Leg stump line from Mendis, easily clipped it through to square leg, there was an easy couple in it. Then came the mix-up. Both batsmen were close to the striker's end, Fernando's throw from the deep though, went through the middle of the pitch. Nash eventually made a run for the bowler's end, but he would have still been out if Dilshan had collected the throw at cover and sent it to the bowler. Instead, he slipped and tumbled over and missed it. And then there were overthrows. Comedy of errers as they would say. (Pun intended).

Herath to Nash, OUT, Gone, big wicket and it comes off a rather poor bal, but an astounding catch. Herath slips down the leg and the spin takes it further down. Nash set himself up for the sweep, but the fact that he was so far inside the line meant he bottom-edged it at the tail-end of his bat swing. Prasa was moving like a cat down the leg side and pouched it cleanly. Tremendous wicketkeeping and SL have an early look-in here at West Indies lower order
