Scorecard
Michael Vandort anchored the Sri Lanka Board XI's first inning against South Africa with a rugged half-century, as the hosts finished the first day of their two-day game against South Africa A at Kandy on 324 for 8.
The Sri Lankans lost Nadeera Nawela early but Vandort and Jehan Mubarak put on 145 for the second wicket before Vandort was trapped in front by Juan Theron nine short of his century. His 91 came off 135 deliveries and contained 16 fours and a six.
Mubarak was out shortly after for 57 and there were useful contributions from the middle and lower order with Janaka Gunaratne (49), Sachith Pathirana (41) Ashan Priyanjan (33) all chipping in, even if none of them were able to capitalise on the starts they got.
The wickets were shared amongst five South Africa bowlers, with Quinton Friend taking three for 58 and Thandi Tshabalala two for 58.
