Panadura Sports Club continued their fine form with a 13 run victory over Sebastianites in the Premier League Limited Overs tournament today. Panadura Sports Club thus maintained their unbeaten record and are now top of Group `A.'
Panadura scored 204 runs having been put into bat by Sebastianites. In reply, Sebastianites were 110 for 5 in the 28th over when heavy rain prevented any further play. Sebastianites will have been deeply disappointed as Sanjeewa Warusamana (20*) and Dinusha Fernando (10*) were looking comfortable at the crease and had added 32 runs for the six wicket in just 6 overs when the players were forced to shelter from the thunderstorms.
Panadura had struggled in the early part of their innings, slipping to 44 for 3, before Chamara Silva (23) and Roshan Wimalasena (39) added 43 runs for the fourth wicket. Pieris (31) came to the crease at the fall of Silva's wicket and then added 53 with Wimalasena. The Panadura innings then tailed off towards the end, although Amila Perera smashed 43 from 28 deliveries; a cameo that included 4 sixes.
In the end it was the last minute hitting from Perera that won the match for Panadura. Peiris also played a role with the ball taking three Sebastianites wickets for 26 runs.
Panadura will now have to play Colts SC tomorrow in what will be a decisive encounter.
