The comic collision
Having got two wickets in as many balls, including that of fellow Trinidadian Kieron Pollard, Dwayne Bravo was all charged up for a chance to take a hat-trick against his former team. With just one ball to go, Vinay Kumar couldn't get his bat on to the leg-side yorker. But the batsman took off for a bye nonetheless. Dhoni missed the stumps and Bravo, in the middle of the pitch, failed to collect it cleanly. With the ball rolling past the non-striker's stumps, Vinay and J Suchith took off for a second bye. Mohit Sharma ran in from mid-on, while Bravo was trying his best to get to it. By the time Bravo realised Mohit on the ball, it was too late for him to halt, which resulted in a collision. Had it resulted into a serious injury, the comedy in no time would have turned into a tragedy.
The catch
Faf du Plessis is no stranger to pulling off stunning catches. He was at it again at the Wankhede Stadium to trigger yet another Mumbai Indians' top-order collapse. Corey Anderson was promoted at No 3 and was keen to get Mumbai Indians' innings going. A swat off Ashish Nehra ended up in a leading edge over the bowler's head. When du Plessis started running backwards at mid-off, it appeared the ball would land well behind the fielder. However, du Plessis kept on increasing his pace and then timed his dive to perfection to pull off a stunner.
The surprise
With the kind of start Mumbai Indians have had to their 2015 campaign, it was no surprise to see them being reduced to 12 for 3 in the fifth over. What came as a surprise was the man who walked in to bat at No 5. Kieron Pollard, who had played a blinder of 34-ball 70 three nights ago, was kept waiting with his pads on. In walked Harbhajan Singh. No doubt that Harbhajan had entertained the Wankhede crowd with a scintillating 24-ball 64 at the start of the week. But to see him walking out to bat ahead of Pollard and Ambati Rayudu seemed zany. The move, though, paid some dividends as Harbhajan's 21-ball 24 kicked off the rebuilding process for the home team.
Two late!
With Dwayne Smith and Brendon McCullum hitting boundaries at will, Mumbai Indians were kept waiting for a breakthrough. When it came, though, Harbhajan Singh got both the openers in the same over. While McCullum holed out to long-off off the second ball of the eighth over, Harbhajan's second, Smith gave Rohit Sharma catching practice at deep midwicket off the last ball of the over. But by then, Super Kings total had crossed three digits and the fate of the match was all but sealed.
