Rajasthan's Mahipal Lomror's 55-ball 74 and seamer Deepak Chahar's three-wicket haul set up their team's 17-run win over Mumbai in Kolkata. Rajasthan have now won each of their three games in the Super League and are on top of Group A.
Electing to bat first, Rajasthan finished with 175 for 6 despite a wobbly start that saw them slump to 12 for 3 in the third over. After Ankit Lamba was caught and bowled by Dhawal Kulkarni in the second over, Salman Khan and Aditya Garhwal were dismissed off successive deliveries. However, Lomror, batting at No.4, stitched together an 86-run alliance with Chetan Bist (41 off 35 balls). He then added 75 for the fifth wicket with Tajinder Singh, who smashed a 17-ball 43, including six fours and two sixes.
Lomror, 18, has been a part of the Delhi Daredevils squad in the past and has set his base price at INR 20 lakh. Kulkarni, who has turned out for Mumbai Indians, Gujarat Lions and Rajasthan Royals over his career in the IPL, has a base price of INR 50 lakh against his name.
Mumbai's chase of 176 began promisingly with Akhil Herwadkar, who struck a 51-ball 68 including six fours and three sixes, and Jay Bista (29 off 18) putting on a 54-run stand for the opening wicket in 6.2 overs. However, aside from the pair and Surya Kumar Yadav (39 off 23), no other batsmen got into double digits. Chahar, who picked up five wickets against Karnataka on Tuesday, dismissed Herwadkar, Shivam Dube and Akash Parkar. He now has 10 wickets from three matches in the Super League.
Khaleel Ahmed and offspinner Tajinder accounted for two wickets each, while Rahul Chahar picked up Bista's wicket. Meanwhile, left-arm seamer Aniket Choudhary, playing his first game of the Super League, went wicketless in his three overs and conceded 30 runs. Choudhary, 27, was a part of the Royal Challengers franchise in the previous season, and has set himself a base price of INR 50 lakh ahead of the auction.
