Solomon guides Lions to crucial win

With one round of matches to be played in the first round of Division 1 league action, Lions Lod to of the table with five wins from six games, having scored a potentially championship winning two-wicket victory over Sri Lanka Tel Aviv on Saturday in Lod.

Israel middle order batsman Eshkol Solomon scored 71 not out, helping his team successfully chase down their 160-run target with just two wickets in hand. Both Young Ashdod and Sri Lanka Jerusalem won over the weekend as well, defeating Be'er Sheva by six wickets and Lod Rangers by eight wickets respectively, to maintain withing striking distance of Lions with essentially four matches still to be played.

In the bottom half of the table, Ra'anana's woes continued as they were defeated by Neve Yonatan in Ashdod on Friday, the hosts reaching their mediocre 117-run target with six wickets in hand.
