Legends of Rupganj bumped up to second position in the Dhaka Premier League after a seven-wicket win over Brothers Union at the BKSP-3 Ground.
Batting first, Brothers Union were bowled out for 178 runs in 48.1 overs. Quick bowler Mohammad Shahid and left-arm spinner Asif Hasan took four wickets each. Parvez Rasool picked up the other two wickets. Mizanur Rahman top scored with 63.
In reply, Rupganj reached the target in 37.3 overs with Abdul Mazid remaining unbeaten on 94. He struck seven sixes and five fours in his 110-ball knock. He added 71 runs for the second wicket with Mohammad Naim (32) while another 69 runs for the third wicket with the captain Naeem Islam (36).
A six-wicket win over Mohammedan Sporting Club took Khelaghar Samaj Kallyan Samity to fourth place with a genuine shot at getting a Super-League place. Fifties from Amit Majumder and Ashok Menaria got them to their 182-run target in 41.3 overs at the Shere Bangla National Stadium.
Majumder top-scored with 76 off 105 balls, hitting eight fours while Menaria remained unbeaten on 54 off 66 balls with five fours and a six.
Earlier, Mohammedan were bowled out for 181 runs in 45.4 overs. Left-arm spinner Tanvir Islam took four wickets while Moinul Islam took two wickets. Jony Talukdar top-scored with 55.
Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club beat Kalabagan Krira Chakra by 73 runs at the Fatullah Cricket Stadium. Kalabagan remain rooted to the bottom position while Dhanmondi Club are in sixth place with one round of matches to go.
Batting first, Dhanmondi Club were bowled out for 263 runs in 49.5 overs. Rakin Ahmed top-scored with 71 off 78 balls with six fours and three sixes. Rakin, son of former Bangladesh wicketkeeper Nasir Ahmed, added 121 runs for the second wicket with Pinak Ghosh who made 49. Tanbir Hayder later struck a breezy 61 off 60 balls with three fours and two sixes.
Taibur Rahman and Muktar Ali made 51 each but Kalabagan were bowled out for 190 runs in 47.3 overs. Elias Sunny took four wickets.
