Michael Vaughan, England's captain, has been fined 40% of his match fees while the rest of the team received a 20% cut on their earnings, for maintaining a slow over-rate during the third Test against Sri Lanka in Galle.
Match Referee Jeff Crowe imposed the fines on the England team after they were found to have bowled four overs short of the requisite amount after time allowances were taken into consideration.
As per the ICC Code of Conduct guidelines, individual players are fined 5% of their match fee for each over that is bowled beyond the allotted time limit, while the captain is fined double that amount.
England drew the rain-interrupted third Test but they lost the three-Test series 0-1 on account of their 88-run loss in the first Test in Kandy.
