A right-arm medium pacer and useful lower-order batsman, Warren McSkimming made his first-class debut in 1999-00. He made an impression in his second season, taking 26 wickets in the four-day Shell Trophy. The 2003-04 season was one of his best, when he topped the wicket lists for Otago with 28, which included three first-class five-wicket hauls. The following season, he recorded his maiden first-class century. In 2005-06, he finished in pole position again for Otago with 28 wickets in the State Championship. His nine wickets helped his team to the State Twenty20 title in 2008-09. He focusses more on accuracy, rather than bounce and pace.
