Thanks Nitin. We are ready for the chase. Anil Kumble had said a score of 170 was defendable, they've managed 154. The openers, Harris and Klinger, are out in the middle. They did an excellent job amid some luck against Mumbai, putting together a century stand. Let's see what they come up with against Praveen Kumar and Dale Steyn. All set. Two slips

0.1

Kumar to Harris, 1 run, short of a good length on middle, gets on the back foot and drops it into the leg side for a quick single

0.2

Kumar to Klinger, FOUR, short, some extra bounce for Praveen, Klinger slashes hard, gets a thick edge well wide of the slips for a boundary past third man

0.3

Kumar to Klinger, 1 run, shortish again, Klinger chops it down towards third man for a single this time

0.4

Kumar to Harris, 1 run, shortish on the off, good single again, just drops it in front of point and sets off

0.5

Kumar to Klinger, 1 run, fuller, some late movement for Praveen as it just jagged away, Klinger played inside the line to that one, got an outside edge down towards third man

0.6

Kumar to Harris, no run, shot off the pitch and caught him on the glove, he did well to take his bottom-hand off, extra bounce again

End of over 1 (8 runs) South Australia 8/0 (147 runs required from 19 overs, RR: 8.00, RRR: 7.73)

    • DJ Harris 2 (3b)
    • M Klinger 6 (3b 1x4)
    • P Kumar 1-0-8-0

Steyn steams in

1.1

Steyn to Klinger, no run, appeal for lbw, nipped back in from middle, too quick for Klinger and he was struck on the pads, big appeal but the umpire rules it not out, replays show it would have just clipped leg, a fair call in the end

Steyn to Klinger, no run, a jaffa, pace and movement for Steyn, darted back in from a good length outside off, beat Klinger through the gate and flew to the keeper

1.3

Steyn to Klinger, no run, driven into the off side, fullish, Steyn leapt and made a left-handed save

1.4

Steyn to Klinger, FOUR, some swing in towards middle, on middle and leg, he picks out the gap between midwicket and mid-on with a lovely on-drive

1.5

Steyn to Klinger, no run, shortish on the off, knocks it down in front of point, thinks of a single but it's not there

1.6

Steyn to Klinger, 1 run, slower one bowled full outside off, steers it towards third man for a single

11.6

Kumar to Klinger, SIX, Shovels it towards midwicket who seems to have it covered, tries to take it but ends up palming it over for a six. Manish Pandey was the culprit who dropped it. 13.5

Steyn to Klinger, FOUR, slower ball, bowled from behind the stumps, drilled through extra cover for four, picked it early

What a chase this has been. Drinks in between an over for the batsmen. Tired from all the boundary hitting I reckon. This is Nitin to take you through to the end of the game. Thanks Abhishek.

13.6

Steyn to Klinger, no run, another lifter from Steyn outside off, beats the cut. Too little too late.

End of over 14 (9 runs) South Australia 122/0 (33 runs required from 36 balls, RR: 8.71, RRR: 5.50)

Kumble on.

14.1

Kumble to Harris, 2 runs, looped on middle and leg, he jumps down the track and chips it on a couple of bounces to long on

14.2

Kumble to Harris, OUT, Harris is run out! Sounds cliched, but it seemed the only way these gius could have been separated. Googly from Kumble, Harris goes back in the crease and chops it away square and goes for a single. Kohli at point arrows it in to Kumble and he is out by some distance. Lots of hesitation before they started, and he paid for that.

DJ Harris run out 57 (61m 38b 7x4 2x6) SR: 150.00

Slip and short leg in now.

14.3

Kumble to Klinger, 1 run, back of a length and extra bounce, Klinger plays from the crease uppishly towards midwicket for one

Kumble to Manou, no run, holds it back, quicker through the air, trademark Kumble delivery and Manou defends to the off side

14.6

Kumble to Manou, OUT, Manou has been comprehensively Kumble-d here! That slow loopy googly has been the trademark of Kumble's recent bowling and it has done Manou in. He reaches out, thinks he has it covered and plays over it. The ball broke back in and shattered the stumps.

GA Manou b Kumble 0 (2m 3b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0.00

End of over 15 (3 runs) South Australia 125/2 (30 runs required from 30 balls, RR: 8.33, RRR: 6.00)

15.1

Steyn to Klinger, 1 run, wide outside off, stays in the crease and guides it behind point

Ishan: "Finally Bangalore gets a wicket that of Dr Harris! Just realised he is a qualified doctor through his profile page!!" Dr. Harris has surgically dismantled Bangalore, but has Kumble given them an opening here?

15.2

Steyn to Ferguson, no run, effort ball, he's bowled a few of those in this spell, rises from back of a length outside off and he lets it go through.

Slip in place.

15.3

Steyn to Ferguson, FOUR, Ferguson gets lucky, Agony for Steyn. Ferguson was expecting another shortish ball, but this was further up, and he ended up driving off neither foot, neither forward nor back. Good old lemon cut misses the stumps and hurries to fine leg

15.4

Steyn to Ferguson, 3 runs, no idecision here! Ferguson leans out in fluid fashion and drives elegantly towards extra cover. Kumble runs across to his left in the infield and puts in the slide but can't stop the ball

15.5

Steyn to Klinger, 1 wide, more effort, very short, it takes off and Uthappa does so too to get it in the mitt. Called a wide

15.5

Steyn to Klinger, no run, uneven bounce outside off, Klinger tries to crunch the cut but gets a bottom edge that goes nowhere

15.6

Sidharth: Dr Harris has surgically dismantle Bangalore and Engineer Kumble has used the angles with pin-point precision to give Bangalore hope!!!" Vinay comes on.

16.1

16.2

Vinay Kumar to Ferguson, no run, back of a length outside off, thinks of playing it but lets it go. Steep bounce

16.3

Vinay Kumar to Ferguson, 2 runs, very slow bouncer - 108 kph. Ferguson was readying to play the cut, then it came so slowly that he had enough time to rethink plans and play a cross-bat pull down to wide long on

16.4

Vinay Kumar to Ferguson, 2 runs, this time it is on his pads and he eases it off the pads behind square for a couple more

16.5

Vinay Kumar to Ferguson, no run, slow leg-cutter from Vinay, this is abit of a Karnataka specialty thanks to that man Venkatesh Prasad. Beats the batsman but it is so slow, he adjusts to dab it to point

16.6

Vinay Kumar to Ferguson, 2 runs, shorter outside off, opens the face and guides it in front of the point fielder for a single

End of over 17 (8 runs) South Australia 144/2 (11 runs required from 18 balls, RR: 8.47, RRR: 3.66)

"Cricinfo didn't mentioned so I am doing it...And Klinger becomes highest run getter in this tournament (actually he became when he made 12 runs in this innings)." Thanks Harik. du Preez comes on with a widish slip.

17.1

du Preez to Klinger, 1 leg bye, angles in from outside off, tries to work it off the pads but can't connect

17.2

du Preez to Ferguson, no run, back of a length, sluggish bounce and the backfoot punch goes without any timing to the cover fielder

17.3

du Preez to Ferguson, no run, bouncer, not much pace from du preez, but catches the batsman by surprise. Bottom-edges the swat-pull to midwicket

17.4

du Preez to Ferguson, 1 run, not so short this time, he chooses to pull and again bottom edges it away towards midwicket

17.5

du Preez to Klinger, 1 leg bye, hits him on the pads, but it was sliding down the leg. Runs into the off side

17.6

du Preez to Ferguson, FOUR, and that, Ferguson says, is how you deal with a du Preez slow nothing bouncer. Slow and outside off, he waited and waited for it, and when it came, he whacked it with a horizontal bat through the covers. Creamed.

4 to win off 2 overs.

End of over 18 (7 runs) South Australia 151/2 (4 runs required from 12 balls, RR: 8.38, RRR: 2.00)

    • D du Preez 3-0-26-0

18.1

Vinay Kumar to Klinger, 2 runs, another really slow slower ball outside off, Klinger was in danger of doing a muscle the way he wound up to hit that! All is well though, carves it off the outside edge over point for a couple

18.2

Vinay Kumar to Klinger, 1 run, faster outside off, Klinger stays in the crease and runs it down to third man for a single. One to win.

Harik: "Looking at this performance, I think RCB will retain Kallis and he should ask for couple of million $ raise."

18.3

Vinay Kumar to Ferguson, 1 run, That's it. Easy as they come. Back of a length outside off, Ferguson stays back, taps it softly into the covers and they take a single to finish a comprehensive win

"Dr. Harris seals clinical win"; "Tait tightens noose around Bangalore"; "Klinger's Redbacks cling on to Bangalore offerings" - There, the headlines you are unlikely to read tomorrow. Well played South Australia. On behalf of my colleagues Sid Talya and Abhishek Purohit, and scorer Binoy George, this is Nitin Sundar signing off. Sid Monga's bulletin is here. Do join us for the double header tomorrow. Cheers!

Klinger, the Redbacks captain, is MoM. What a run he is having! "Really good all-round performance this. We have got the talent to beat anyone, and the boys are believing in it, at the moment. Great atmosphere in the dressing room, this is fantastic. Tait is a fantastic weapon for us. Daniel Christian is one of the best in the death."

Kumble: "Too many wickets at regular intervals, especially losing Taylor at that stage. Dillon got us to 150, we could have out pressure if we got early wickets. We could have bowled better, but should have had 15 runs more. The next game is a must-win for us."

Hang on for the presentations.

South Australia, take a bow! Not many gave this side a chance at the start of the tournament, but with three wins in three games, they become the first side to reach the last four. Klinger, in the process, has surged to the top of the tournament run-table. Daniel Harris gave him exemplary support to follow that fielding effort earlier in the day. For me, that ball summed up the difference between the two teams. Bangalore, like Mumbai earlier in the tournament, were average in the field. Even the youngsters - Manish Pandey and Virat Kohli - made basic errors. Like Harsha Bhogle, all of us are left wondering, what ails India's fielding. Bangalore have some serious concerns and will hope Kallis recovers fast.

Venkat has an eye on the points table. "This match gives, Lions a good chance for semis. They can easily win against Guyana. Then that makes the match between Bangalore and Lions as unofficial quarter-final."
