Matthew Turich represented Queensland Under 17 in 2001-02; North Queensland Under 19 in 2002-03; Queensland Secondary Schools in 2002-03. At the conclusion of the National Under 17 Championships he was included in the Australian Under 17 Development squad. His club in Gladstone is Brothers and he has gained a number of representative honours in junior and schoolboy cricket. In 2002 he was a member of the Regional Queensland Academy of Sport Squad and in September played against the Victoria Institute of Sport. Schools: Star of the Sea; Kin Kora State; Toolooa State High, all in Gladstone. His grandfather, Charles Godfrey Turich represented Queensland Colts, being captain of the team for the match against New South Wales Colts in 1934-35 while his father was a Central Queensland representative player.
