    Dear savin,

Ponting is not a bad captain but Australians are bad loser and that was so evident today.

the poms are good but australia are playing just woeful. I know ponting has been a good captain but form is what matters, i think ponting either moves down to 4 calls an end to test cricket in sydney or vacate the captaincy his form is hurting the side. hughes must perform or he goes watson isnt converting enough and the middle order is crap. im also sorry but hilfy has to go to not taking wickets and thats australias biggest problem. i also think england have enough runs now and should declare now, australia will be out for under 230.

@Rosskooo, yes you are absolutely right. This was a conspiracy against the Aussies & the umpire's surely a part of it!

To reply to Savin, I don't care whether or not Ponting is "the best" as a captain, or as a player. As an advertisement for the game of cricket, he is a disgrace. It would set a great example if he were to be stood down by Cricket Australia. His strident whining at the umpires shamed his country and all who love cricket.

I noticed something just before the start of play on the first day of the Boxing Day test - The English team were in a huddle on the outfield and Matt Prior turned around and called out something to one of the umpires, who then threw something which looked suspiciously like the game ball to Prior who then returned to the huddle. Isn't this against the rules? The fact that Australia crumbled so badly makes me even more suspicious.

Perplexed by the referral controversy - the ball didn't seem to hit the bat but hotspot showed something did, at the bottom (below the arc of the ball). Not the pad either. Curious.

Strauss should declare the team by Lunch which means Aussies need to bat two and half-day. That itself is quite a bit pressure. Given the form Anderson has in this series, it will be a wise decision. In addition, England has a quality spinner too who can destroy any batting line up.

At the moment, the equation is simple for English bowlers: bowled out Ricky Ponting, you have broken not only the backbone of Australian batting line up but also crushes their hopes totally.
