The Ashes - 4th Test

Australia v England

England won by an innings and 157 runs

Overs 1-50  | Overs 51-100  | Overs 101-150  | Overs 151-200

51.1

Siddle to Cook, OUT, edged! Does it carry to Watson at second slip? Yes it does, he's gone! Finally the breakthrough comes for Australia, and it was a good ball that did it. Landing on middle and leg and drawing Cook forward into a defensive poke, the ball just left him off the seam and did enough to take a healthy edge

AN Cook c Watson b Siddle 82 (212m 152b 11x4 0x6) SR: 53.94

England 159/1   AJ Strauss 64* (157b 5x4)   PM Siddle 12.1-5-14-1

55.3

Siddle to Strauss, OUT, gone! Two wickets for Siddle, this one courtesy of a leaping, one-handed catch from Mike Hussey at backward point. It was another back of a length effort ball from Siddle, and he found alarming lift off the pitch to surprise Strauss, who was looking to work this quietly to leg. A thick leading edge sent the ball in the opposite direction, and Hussey did the rest. The game moves on once more!

AJ Strauss c Hussey b Siddle 69 (232m 167b 5x4 0x6) SR: 41.31

England 170/2   IJL Trott 6* (16b)   PM Siddle 14.3-6-17-2

86.3

Siddle to Pietersen, OUT, this one keeps low, jags in and hits Pietersen plumb in front! Siddle strikes again! He launched himself into the appeal as soon as ball hit pad, he knew he had his man. Pietersen, after looking so good on either side of lunch, falls to some variable bounce and appreciable seam movement

KP Pietersen lbw b Siddle 51 (127m 89b 7x4 0x6) SR: 57.30

England 262/3   IJL Trott 46* (113b 2x4)   PM Siddle 17.3-6-31-3

91.3

Johnson to Collingwood, OUT, Collingwood fails again, he was trying to be positive and has managed to lift a Johnson long-hop straight to fine leg who held on gleefully! Johnson celebrates and maybe that will kick-start his Test

PD Collingwood c Siddle b Johnson 8 (27m 15b 1x4 0x6) SR: 53.33

England 281/4   IJL Trott 57* (128b 3x4)   MG Johnson 12.3-1-57-1

95.3

Johnson to Bell, OUT, Johnson has another and Bell has gone! Short ball, gets up a touch higher than Bell expected and he top-edged a hook down towards Siddle who ran in and dived to hold on to an excellent catch

IR Bell c Siddle b Johnson 1 (19m 13b 0x4 0x6) SR: 7.69

England 286/5   IJL Trott 61* (139b 3x4)   MG Johnson 14.3-1-60-2

141.1

Siddle to Prior, OUT, that will be that, soft dismissal in the end but Siddle deserves some luck, fullish ball just stuck in the wicket a fraction and Prior chipped it straight to mid-on. He stood motionless for a moment, realising he'd thrown away a possible Ashes hundred but it ends a fine innings

MJ Prior c Ponting b Siddle 85 (201m 119b 11x4 0x6) SR: 71.42

England 459/6   IJL Trott 146* (295b 12x4)   PM Siddle 28.1-8-66-4

145.4

Siddle to Bresnan, OUT, Siddle has a five! He's really earned that, gets Bresnan with a classic feathered outside edge to a forward push, might have nibbled away off the pitch a fraction

TT Bresnan c †Haddin b Siddle 4 (22m 17b 0x4 0x6) SR: 23.52

England 465/7   IJL Trott 148* (305b 12x4)   PM Siddle 30.4-9-70-5

156.3

Hilfenhaus to Swann, OUT, what a catch! The crowd were quiet for a good few seconds before they realised a wicket had actually just fallen. Banged in short again by Hilfenhaus, Swann hooks and a thick edge flew fast and straight and looked to be going over Haddin's head ... but he timed his salmon-leap to perfection and got both hands to it

GP Swann c †Haddin b Hilfenhaus 22 (51m 28b 3x4 0x6) SR: 78.57

England 508/8   IJL Trott 168* (342b 13x4)   BW Hilfenhaus 35.3-13-81-1

158.1

Hilfenhaus to Tremlett, OUT, Hilfenhaus gets another! Full, straight and reversing in enough to beat the inside edge of Tremlett's defensive poke and smash into middle stump

CT Tremlett b Hilfenhaus 4 (8m 7b 0x4 0x6) SR: 57.14

England 512/9   IJL Trott 168* (345b 13x4)   BW Hilfenhaus 36.1-13-82-2

159.1

Siddle to Anderson, OUT, and Siddle gets a six-for on his home ground! Full, straight and reversing away from the left-hander's defensive push to peg the off stump back

JM Anderson b Siddle 1 (5m 6b 0x4 0x6) SR: 16.66

England 513/10   IJL Trott 168* (345b 13x4)   PM Siddle 33.1-10-75-6
