Shaaiq Choudhry has had a long career on the fringes of first team cricket without ever quite making a breakthrough.
A left-arm spinning allrounder, he spent several years at Warwickshire without ever making it into their Championship side and then moved to Worcestershire. But with his progress blocked by Moeen Ali, he had to be content with a bit-part role in all forms of the game. Moeen graduated to the England team but Choudry was relased all the same at the end of 2015.
As a batsman, Choudhry made a decent start to his first-class career. Representing MCC against the touring West Indies, he scored an unbeaten 54 in his maiden first-class innings but had to wait another two years for a further opportunity. On that occasion, playing his only first-class game for Warwickshire, he made another half-century (75) against Durham MCCU. But it was not enough to save him from release at the end of the season.
Signed on an eight-week trial by Worcestershire in May 2010, he went straight into their Championship side and scored another half-century on debut (63) against Sussex at Hove. It meant he had scored half-centuries in three of his first four first-class innings.
Only one more followed in the next five seasons, though, and while he won a longer-term contract, a lack of potency with his bowling limited his first team opportunities. He did briefly take centre stage in 2010 when he claimed career-best List A figures - 4-54 - in 2010, including the wicket of Kevin Pietersen on his debut against Surrey
Two wins, six losses and a washout. With only five more matches to go for them, Royal Challengers Bangalore can lose another match and still make it to playoffs
