Watson to Cook, OUT, full ball, swings in, Cook wrapped on the front pad, umpire Erasmus has a long look before raising the finger what a change of bowling. Cook caught on the knee roll in front of middle, Cook doesn't review because it looks stone dead. Very nicely bowled, great length, Cook drawn forward and got beaten by a bit of movement down the slope

AN Cook lbw b Watson 12 (19m 14b 2x4 0x6) SR: 85.71

England 18/1   JE Root 6* (12b 1x4)   SR Watson 0.2-0-0-1
5.2

Harris to Root, OUT, full and straight, Root slapped on the front pad, is this going down? No! It's given out! Very well bowled, Root has reviewed it though, is it squeezing down leg? Actually scrap that, there's a huge edge but was it pad first? Root may have squeezed this onto the pad. It was given out remember, the third umpire is having a long look at the replays. Tony Hill is the TV umpire. Yes pad first, Hawk Eye has it hitting leg stump and Root is gone! Australia have a double strike and England lose a review. It was marginal but a fair enough call

JE Root lbw b Harris 6 (28m 14b 1x4 0x6) SR: 42.85

England 26/2   IJL Trott 8* (4b 2x4)   RJ Harris 2.2-1-6-1
5.6

Harris to Pietersen, OUT, full length just outside off, Pietersen forward, thin edge and caught behind! Harris has another! What a selection and what a start for Australia. Pietersen always vulnerable against the new ball and has nicked off here, a thin edge as the ball just shaped up the hill, superb bowling

KP Pietersen c †Haddin b Harris 2 (3m 4b 0x4 0x6) SR: 50.00

England 28/3   IJL Trott 8* (4b 2x4)   RJ Harris 3-1-8-2
33.5

Harris to Trott, OUT, short ball, Trott pulls and gets it all wrong, there's a man at deep square leg and he takes a comfortable catch. Trott suckered in and gets a top edge on a pull stroke and from serene progress, England are back in trouble, Trott has given it away, he just hurried a little, tried to paddle it and put it a long way up in the air

IJL Trott c Khawaja b Harris 58 (137m 87b 11x4 0x6) SR: 66.66

England 127/4   IR Bell 40* (84b 7x4)   RJ Harris 9.5-3-25-3
76.6

Smith to Bell, OUT, he's done it! Clarke's captaincy brings another wicket. It's a perfectly-pitched leg break which grips a fraction, finds the edge and carries low to Clarke at slip. What a bonus for Australia

IR Bell c Clarke b Smith 109 (307m 211b 16x4 0x6) SR: 51.65

England 271/5   JM Bairstow 66* (136b 7x4)   SPD Smith 1-0-4-1
80.1

Smith to Bairstow, OUT, and another! It's a full toss. Bairstow has just bunted it back to Smith. Christmas time for Smith and Australia. An awfully lazy dismissal from Bairstow, who drove a fraction early and Smith collected a low chance in his follow through

JM Bairstow c & b Smith 67 (199m 146b 7x4 0x6) SR: 45.89

England 274/6   MJ Prior 2* (9b)   SPD Smith 2.1-0-7-2
84.3

Smith to Prior, OUT, he's got three! What a spell for Australia. This one skidded through outside off, perhaps an attempted flipper, Prior went for the cut and gets a healthy top edge to Haddin

MJ Prior c †Haddin b Smith 6 (29m 18b 1x4 0x6) SR: 33.33

England 283/7   TT Bresnan 5* (17b 1x4)   SPD Smith 4.3-0-16-3
89.1

Harris to Bresnan, OUT, length ball, hint of movement away and Bresnan nicks off to the first ball of the morning! The perfect start for Australia, a probing line from Harris - better men have been seduced into playing at those than Bresnan. In the channel, just outside off and holding its line, Bresnan could only nudge it into the keeper's gloves

TT Bresnan c †Haddin b Harris 7 (34m 29b 1x4 0x6) SR: 24.13

England 289/8   JM Anderson 4* (16b)   RJ Harris 20.1-6-43-4
93.3

Harris to Anderson, OUT, got him this time and Harris has a five-for at Lord's! Another healthy edge from Anderson, length ball pushed across and clipping the bat on its way through to Haddin at a comfortable height. Worth his weight on the honours board, is Ryan

JM Anderson c †Haddin b Harris 12 (40m 29b 2x4 0x6) SR: 41.37

England 313/9   SCJ Broad 13* (15b 2x4)   RJ Harris 22.3-6-51-5
100.1

Pattinson to Broad, OUT, nicked to the keeper, the partnership is ended two short of fifty! Or is it? Broad doesn't walk, naturally, and has a wee conflab with Swann before deciding to review. This looks a bit hopeful, as there was a clear deviation on the way through... Though replays show it hit the flap of the pad, too. Hot Spot picks up a faint edge, though, so any more Broad controversy is quickly put to bed. England are all out for 361, less than they will have wanted but buoyed by another last-man stand of decent proportions

SCJ Broad c †Haddin b Pattinson 33 (53m 29b 5x4 1x6) SR: 113.79

England 361/10   GP Swann 28* (26b 5x4)   JL Pattinson 20.1-3-95-1
