A new low, a nether nether land

England lose to Netherlands for the second time in the World T20. Twitter explores with glee, sarcasm and schadenfreude.

But we eventually managed to put some of the best tweets together. Here they are.

I liked Ricky Ponting's comments on Sky. England were on a decline when the Ashes series started end of 2013 and have not recovered and rebuilt yet. It will take time. If one looks back to England v India 2011, India went through similar problems with players past their peak after a period of huge success (world cup win, no 1 test team). Look at the generally successful Indian cricket now with its younger players!

That is what England should strive to do, let the younger players start to hold the fort in ALL formats of the game.

That last one was pure gold.

Also, will there be one of SL vs NZ?

I can just imagine people from the ECB with heads in hands when Broad mentioned Kevin Pietersen.

It is a HUGE MESS. The ECB has serious problems at the moment.

"We did 2 runs more than the Aussies did in the game that they were knocked out" - Broad and Giles grope around for a silver lining. *grin*

Why don't the associate teams get together and select an ``Associate World XI" side and pit this side against the top teams in tournaments. I think this would actually be a strong side and win more games against top sides. Also, this side will be continually changing because there is nice incentive for players to improve and compete to get into this side. If this team plays in a decent amount of games against the test playing nations then the improvement to associate players would happen at a faster rate than it is happening now. I also believe you will get better quality players produced from this idea.

Good job Holland. One bad day against the SL. Otherwise, almost beat the Saffers and now the English win. Want to see more of associates in T20 events. Maybe add an associate team in every bilateral T20 series to spice things up?

At the moment, if Holland opened the batting with Van Persie and Johnny Heitinga, they'd still beat us!!
