West Indies Tri-Nation Series - Final

India v Sri Lanka

India won by 1 wicket (with 2 balls remaining)

Tharanga and Mahela will open for Sri Lanka. Dhoni does some squats. Bhuvneshwar has the first new ball, he made it talk two days ago with a spell of 4 for 8

Dhoni wins the toss and India will bowl

MS: "Looks like a better wicket than the others. It feels good and hopefully I will go through this game. All the tosses we lost [3 out of 4] and we made it look easy. It has been helping seamers upfront, this one looks slightly different, may not help fast bowlers as much and may help batsmen play strokes." Vinay Kumar is in, Umesh Yadav is out, as is M Vijay

Mathews: "Looks like a good wicket to bat on." Suranga Lakmal has flown from Sri Lanka straight into the XI in place of Dilhara Lokuhettige. There is also an extra batsman, Kusal Perera, in place of Jeevan Mendis. I like this pace attack - Malinga, Eranga and Lakmal, no medium-pacer in there

The only time India won the toss in this series before was in Jamaica v Sri Lanka, and they were handed a 161-run thrashing by Tharanga and Mahela

Joydeep Grover: "Last India v SL match of the year. What will we all do for the rest of the year?! Still 5 months to go..." The lament ...

Daniel Alexander: "Lakmal flew back home from the Caribbean after the 'A' tour and called back in after a couple of days, thats some air miles"

SpiderCam: "I think Vinay's selection is a master stroke. Like Bhuvi he can swing the ball. He has been on the sidelines since the Champions Trophy and deserves this chance. He is a better fielder and batsman than Yadav. Go India GO!!"

binny: "Poor Kohli, works hard in the series to lead the team and then Dhoni shines in the final."

Nik: "Feel sorry for Kohli - would have been good experience for him captaining in a final."

Oscar F: "I still faintly remember that I watched the first match which Mahela Jayawardene played against Indian and now he is playing his 400th of his career match. It is giving me the feeling of getting old"

Harsha Prakash: "Expected this change. Yadav was not sure, where he was bowling last match. His was literally wanting to be taken out of attack! Vinay is a good change!"

ronak: "Batting by Agar made my morning, not sure what am I expecting from this final now !!!"

9 am MS Dhoni has recovered and is leading India in the final

8.40am Welcome to India v Sri Lanka, a contest that happens so often "even jokes about how often they play each other have become stale." More in the preview of the tri-series final from that keen chronicler of India-Sri Lanka contests, Sid Ravindran. As far as tournament finals go, though, this is the first one between these two since the 2011 World Cup final. More on tournament finals, these two have split the last six between them, dating back to the Asia Cup final in 2008 in Karachi. The golden days of India-Sri Lanka finals were in 2010, when there were as many as three of them, including two in Dambulla alone. Guess who was in the Sri Lankan town both times? You said it, Sid Ravindran. The man loves his India v Sri Lanka

A huge landmark coming up - Mahela Jayawardene will play his 400th ODI, making him only the third man on the planet to have done so. Don't just look at that underwhelming average - by his standards - of 33.54, think of how many of those runs must have come in difficult situations on difficult pitches. A master of such scenarios in limited-overs

India have finished about ten minutes before the scheduled close. That does not happen often. A collapse from 171 for 2 to 201 all out also does not happen often. Thirimanne and Sangakkara worked so hard on a difficult pitch, and both gave it away. And then the young lower middle order of Mathews, Chandimal and Kusal Perera, all of them disappointing. How long do Sri Lanka rely on the senior batsmen? Sri Lanka seemed to have it under control as Dhoni used the part-timers against Thirimanne and Sanga, but they lost three wickets in the batting Powerplay and continued to slip thereafter. Absolutely nothing from the tail as well. Poor batting gifting India a chase of 202. It is gettable, the pitch hasn't played as hard as the ones before it. Dr Devashish Fuloria will be around to take you through till the first drinks break of the India innings

Parth: "Can't say Dhoni is just lucky. Just about that stumping incident, he was alert enough to notice the opportunity the second time in split seconds, rather than lament the first missed chance and give up. He has the patience and wisdom to realize mistakes happen but its when you capitalize on opportunities presented that counts and makes him successful."
